HTPC using 2 Displays

    Hi Guys,

I have my Vista HTPC connected to a 20" LCD Monitor and Panasonic AX200 Projector. I am using an ATI Graphics card (ASUS HD3650), and have set-up the 2 displays in "extended mode", HOWEVER I am unable to see the entire laptop desktop on the projector when both screens are in use?

The LCD & Projector both work on their own, however when both on, I seem to be only able to see the desktop on the LCD, and part screen on the projector. When I reboot though, I am pretty sure I can see the info on both screens until I login.

I am a little new to this, so any advice, guidance, things to check, etc.. would be great.

not quite sure what you are looking for (its early here!) Photo? Are you looking to span your desktop across the displays?

It would seem that you have Windows , or the Catalyst drivers in Windows set to span across displays , this is obviously not what you want , so find the setting and turn it off , instead you want to choose which display shows the desktop , it should have something like screen 1 , screeen 2 , or both if your graphics card supports it.

When you choose both it should have an option for copy or span , you dont want span , that is whats its at now.

Its the Hydravision properties you need to set up properly , Here is a link , I cannot find an online manual believe it or not !

    http://ati.amd.com/products/hydravision/features.html

It looks like this is what you want to do from the pointers below,
    Move-to-monitor feature
"Move-to-monitor" feature allows you to select to which monitor you'd like to move the application. With a simple right click on the application title bar, a drop down menu appears with the options to "Move to monitor 1" or Move to monitor 2".

    turn off extended display.
you want to show the same image on both screens so set you gfx options to clone display - (intel version here -)fuj_ext_monitor_setup4.jpg
then set the resolutions correctly for each display.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Well the clone option worked for me on my graphics card software, however I still don't seem to be able to set different screen resolutions, but not a major issue for me at the moment, and I can try and delve into that further at a later stage.

    Thanks again ! :pac:

I assume you mean that there is only one resolution option rather than having different resolutions for your 2 displays, as if they are cloned, they share the same resolution.

What are the 2 connections you are using? HDMI and s-video?

^what he said, cloned includes res, otehrwise it would be a nighmare re-drawing fonts and dialog boxes for different res's. Svideo is a little different as the res selected is more of a "scanning" res.

I am using DVI and HDMI via DVI convertor.

Yeah, makes sense the resolution is the same.
