Early Retirement - Benefits?

I'm thinking of taking early retirement next year at 50. It will be cost-neutral early retirement so I'll probably get a lump sum of about 33,000 and a monthly pension of approx 300.

I know nothing about social welfare benefits. Would anyone know if I'd be entitled to anything? Part of the reason for taking early retirement would be to look after an elderly parent. I could probably get the Carers Allowance but don't know if it's means tested. If I don't opt for that would I be entitled to unemployment benefit? What about Fas Courses? Do you get paid for taking one?

Like I said, I know nothing about social welfare so would appreciate some help. :o
