Restoring OS to Different FS Type

    Hey guys,

After months of getting my Mac just the way I want it with all the apps set up the way I like and everything being hunky dory, I decided to give photoshop a go & downloaded the trial version from Adobe.

But when I went to install it, it said it could not been installed on my machine as the file system was not supported.

After some research, I discovered this was down to my choice of file system when I installed Leopard, when to me it seemed obvious to pick case sensitivity as I've been used to it from years of Linux and Unix.

Anyway, it turns out Adobe products can't be installed on a case sensitive FS as their programmers are lazy buggers.

So I set about remedying it a way that would allow me to preserve my current workspace as its taken forever to get it the way I like it. After reading about the miracles of Time Machine, and being able to reinstall from a back-up I decided to give it a go.

So i rebooted into the OS X Dvd, and formatted the hard drive, and then set the installer in motion to restore from the back-up. 2 hours later and voila the restore is done.
But disaster, Photoshop still wont install, because the Time Machine backup also restores the original FS type. :(

So, does anyone know of a way for me to do something similar to the Time Machine thing but without preserving the FS type.

ie my current system but on a non-case sensitive FS.

    Thanks

    Chris

If the partition table is GUID then you could create a new one in the free space and format it in a compatible way . . . I think !? Then install PS to it. Worth a try I reckon ?
