I'm attempting to transfer video from my Mini DV camcorder to my laptop but I've run into a problem I can't solve. I'm just wondering if someone (south Dublin) with a Firewire connection on a laptop might be willing to assist me solve the problem?

Problem is I can't figure out whether the Firewire adapter (PCMCIA card) I've just bought is faulty or whether my Windows 2000 software is preventing the DV camcorder from loading correctly.

most firewire pcmcia cards wont give video speed.basically, you need a firwire port on your laptop to get video speed. in my experience at least.
