Completed my first Tri at the Joey Hannon at the weekend. :)

What an experience! Amazed at how well it was run/organised. Everyone from the Gardai to the Timekeepers to the numerous Stewards were brilliant.

Waiting for the times but everything went pretty much according to plan. I well and truly have the Tri-bug !

Thxs to everyone on here (Hunney/Tunney etc etc) for advice over last few months..

    Now back to my training...

I'll get in here before amadeus does, but I'll nick his usual line
    "so what's next?"

Oh and Congrats on the weekend!

    Glad it went well.

Heard the bike was tough with the wind.

    Am i that predictable? :o

So what is next? Loosing the silly lycra and getting into a real sport, like marathon running maybe?!

Seriously, well done - congratulations on the achievement.

Well done. My first one too - great day out. Weather made it. Thanks to all in Limerick Tri. Super organisation with so many entrants. Enjoyed this more than any fieldsport event I was ever involved in.

    Roll on the next one.

Thanks folks (and congrats too Topper...)

Swimming was grand - prob was happiest with that.

Wind made cycling a bit tricky (a good few people passed me out) but because of it's pretty flat route it wasn't too bad.

Thought run was ok -although the last couple of hundred yards up a bit of a hill were tough...

Great day out and great atmosphere.

Next thing for me is the ironman...;)
Aim to do 3 more Sprints and 1 Olympic (just to finish) by end of year.

I know some (like Tunney go for quality over quantity) but nothing beats IM in my book.

I don't see an IM, or even an HIM, race as being the logical progression from the completion of an olympic distance race for everyone.

I don't see the completion of an IM race as the ultimate goal in triathlon. Which is more impressive - a sub 1:55:00 accurate olympic distance triathlon or a 16:59:59.9 IM triathlon?

However I do see the attraction of IM distance races.

congrats. seems like u feel just like i did when i did my first (only doen two due to injuries the past 2 yrs but this yr i have a few lined up so here's hoping i can stay injury free!!!)

What is the progression to an IM. I hope to do one at some point in my life. I hear that late 20's early 30's is the best time to start them but even 1 wud be great to do!! Dopes it take yrs of building up to them? diet and lifestyle wud deffo need to change for some time for me i'd bet!

I got to say well done Funkyzeit and Topper. I did it as well - wrote up a report to finish off the fitness log at http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=55851395&postcount=58.

Does anyone know when the times will be out?

9 months from first swimming lesson and buying first bike in my case ;) It's as hard or easy as you want. I really believe anyone who can swim and ride a bike can do and IM but if you want to do a sub 10 hour IM you got to really work at it.
