Can you really beef up without a proper Bench?

I'm a member of Jackie Skellies. It's a fitness Gym, not a weights place. While there are some strong guys there can you really get the shape I want there or do you need just a completely weights focused Gym?

That depends on what weights they have available specifically, and what your lifting ability is like at the moment. Whats your current routine? What kind of shape are you working towards?

Which Jackie Skellies is it? Dont they all nearly have benches anyways? Nothing to stop you working off those and using the dumbells available to you there!

If the DB's are heavy enough it won't really be a problem. I'm assuming your focus is on upper body. It also depends on what your definition of beefed up is.

All JS have benches, but mostly they don't have squat racks or power cages or heavy barbells. They do have Smith machines, which I'm not a fan of. And they have some pretty heavy dumbbells. Last time I was there, I did dumbbell deads and squats.

If you jsut want to get big, it can be done on the smith. It's a pretty sh!t deal, but it can be done. I'd stay away from it for squats, but pressing movements could be done in it I guess.

So, would you recommend joining a more weights focused Gym?

Didn't you say you were leaving the country in less than a month??

I said it in the last thread, there's not much point in switching gyms if its only gonna be for 3 or 4 weeks!

Nothing to stop you going to a Pay as you Go gym, and lifting heavy.

    That's a good suggestion!

I think there is a guy there who does PT.

There myself regularly and I see him. Ask at the desk on the way in!
