    Great find - cheers

I don't think the zavvi stores carry HD-DVD any more.
    Not in Cork anyway.

so just recieved this in the post today. im sure it looks fantastic (havnt had the chance to test it yet) but noticed on the back of the box under "main features" its listed as only 1080i as opposed to 1080p. Maybe this was released before 1080p compatible hd-dvd players became available? Anyone know if this is a true 1080p title? or am i just looking into this a little too much!?

Mine arrived today. Looks decidedly second hand. No shrink wrap. Crease in the box cover and frayed edges. Mission Impossible box set came in the same package. This is shrink wrapped and new. Hope the Planet Earth wasn't somebody else's return of dodgy disks.

reading up on it, the 4 main discs are 1080p and the extras disk is 1080i, the box is just labelled wrong

Mine looks a bit shabby too, the outer cardboard a bit squashed, strange that they're not shrink wrapped

the reason for no postage for some people seems to be that the country in the address said uk

Mine said UK on the package. Somebody had scored this out in pen and written Ireland. Got charged the postage.

I got mine today and it also looks like it was used. Mangey looking cardboard case with finger smudges and creases all over it. No shrink-wrap. Disks look OK, but haven't tried them yet. It came rattling around in an enormous A3 sized box with no padding or bubble wrap which probably didn't help, but still.

I'm a bit miffed but to be honest, if the disks play ok, I'm happy enough for the price.

well did get charged postage for another boxset I ordered, so it's a bit strange

the planet earth discs look new and play perfect, outer box not perfect but not too bad really

That's a bit shoddy. It's good price, but not that good that you should have to put up with that sort of quality.

I paid €50 for it on BluRay a few months back.

Please fill out the returns section on the invoice stating exactly the faults you have encountered with this item and enclose this when returning this item

Apologies for the inconvenience caused in this matter

    Regards

    Jamie

    Customer service team

Now I'm just trying to figure out if I'm bothered enough to send it back to them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,014 ✭✭✭Soarer

You woulda thought they'd have offered you some sort of compensation.

I mean the goods weren't in a new condition.
And now it falls on you to send it back to them (granted it's freepost, but you still need to buy an envelope and get to a postoffice), and fill out some sort of claim form.
Should definitely have been given something off your next purchase.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 476 ✭✭Ryaller

Is it freepost? I'm definitely sending it back in that case. Paying for the postage was the only thing that I resented. If they send me a new one I'll be happy. I wasn't looking for compensation, and to be honest, I'll probably have the replacement back before I'd have watched it anyway. The amount of cheap HD DVDs I've bought recently that I haven't even watched yet is ridiculous!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,014 ✭✭✭Soarer

I hear you on the HDDVD thing.
I even bought the Harry Potter boxset the other day. I fukking hate Harry Potter!! But it was cheap, so I had to buy it.
The fact that play are selling a load of them from €6.99 at the minute is scaring me a little too!:o

As for the freepost thing, that's what it says in the email you posted. Maybe that's just for the UK though?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 476 ✭✭Ryaller

Just goes to show you I didn't even read it properly!

Funny you should mention Harry Potter, I did the same and I can't stand them (Mrs. Ryaller, on the other hand, loves that rubbish). I had to sit through the first one last night. The worst thing about those movies is that Radcliffe kid. He couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag.

I'd draw the line at 2 Fast 2 Furious.
