    Hello,

Hoping to get a bit of advice as have not been able to find out much on the internet. Im hoping to get a motorbike later in the year. I want to get a 250cc. Im 30 and have a full car driving license but not sure what this will cover motorbike wise. Can I even get a 250cc? Also if I get a motorbike provisional license what will that cover? I just need some advice as to what I need to get going. Any help would be great.

The cc is largely irrelevent (with respects to the full 'A' license, the 'A1' is limited to 125's). What you need to worry about is the power output (the bhp) :) 25kW or ~33bhp is the limit for provisional 'A' license holders (omitting the power-to-weight issue, that Im avoided so as not confuse you)

You can ride a 1000cc bike (for example) as long as it meets the restriction - and pretty much any bike can have a kit fitted to reduce bhp, and make it 'learner-legal'.

250's (the sporty ones) are just over the restriction figure of 33bhp (usually around 40bhp), whereas the cruiser ones are usually safely within the restriction.
