Mac wont start

    Hi guys,

    I connected my macbook to my mac mini to transfer some files. When i put the macbook into firewire mode the mac mini just shut down. When i try to restart the fan just gets really loud and nothing else happens no power or anything. Any ideas why this is happening?

    you could try resetting the PMU on the Mini, if that fails to work it sounds as if your logic board may be borked, so hopefully it is still under warranty.

    To reset the PMU on a Mac mini:
    Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord.
    Wait 10 seconds.
    Plug in the power cord while simultaneously pressing and holding the power button on the back of the computer.
    Let go of the power button.
    Press the power button once more to start up your Mac mini.

    Do what Thumper says on the off chance that a reset will work. The fact that the fan is working is suspicious. Can you start up in single user mode (hold apple + S on startup)?

    Cheers for the response guys, ive tried both of those and not success. Im just gonna send it to mactivate for an estiamte. Ill let you's know how i get on.
