Far be it for me to question a mod, but does everything on DealExtreme really need its own thread? Why not just a dealextreme thread, so when people come across something that's unusually good value, they just post it there?

Also, I knew I forgot to add something to my last order. Was looking at these earphones a while back.

EDIT: Free shipping rules. Thanks for reminding me about these, just ordered a set.

I bought a pair of these for the DS, they're a bit big and thinny so sore after an hours or so use, and we do need separate threads for DS, there's just soooooooooo much on that site

woo, they sound terrific, i like the way people are complaining about too much bass, its a good thing as too little bass is my complaint about any earphones ive ever had.

With the standard option, I'd give it a few weeks.

Free no matter the size of the order, with an optional fee for a faster shipping service.

I have a pair of these. They are pretty good for the price and fit right into your ear so they block out a lot of the ambient noise. They are also handy for listening to music in places like the libraray where you can't have anyone else hear it. You can have it up relatively loud and it won't be heard by anyone near you.

To anyone who is wondering what these earphones are like,I have three sets of them and they are definitely among the best that I have used.I would definitely recommend them.At that price they're a bloody bargain.Buy 2+ sets so that you have a spare incase one breaks.

    I'm sure I'll find a use for them :D

I'm with quackles (great username by the way, it quacks me up). With a mega thread you can't see what the current bargain is just by viewing the title so it doesn't jump out at you as much. Also you have people giving feedback on something they purchased getting mixed in with people posting new bargains.

About the earphones, never really been a fan of cheap earphones, they're usually rubbish quality. Generally if you pay more from a good brand you'll get much better sound quality.

As someone put it so aptly before, ordering stuff from Deal Extreme is like throwing a surprise birthday for yourself. You just order and by the time the item arrives you've completely forgotten about it and feel like you won the lottery :D

went onto that site at about 1:30 to get the earphones and only off it now. 2 fuppin hours! plus, spent $120 on pure junk... shock-u-friend joke phone, really strong but small magnets, sim card cloner, 10 pack of key chain led things, fake moustaches, etc. why oh why...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,505 ✭✭✭nevaeh-2die-4

ha ha i went on that webiste me self found meself buying crap.

got meself a shock pen a laser pointer & more better not list the near 100 dollars wirth of crap or the ball and chain will go mad!!! :)

really strong but small magnets, sim card cloner, 10 pack of key chain led things, fake moustaches, etc. why oh why...

Those small magnets are deadly - really strong for the size of them, they're holding plenty of stuff up on my magnet notice board, just need to start thinking of more uses for them :) .

I got 5 of the key chains with a laser and LED light on them - they're actually very good for handy pointing during presentation and I gave some to my gf and sisters so they always have a light with them when walking to the car at night.

Problem is, some of my stuff just never arrived (ordered in February) and to say DealExtreme "customer support" has been a nightmare is an understatement, so I'd only order knowing that there's a risk the gear will just never arrive. Some of the stuff is pure muck and falls apart, but others are great value (e.g. my CAT5 cable crimper and cable tester for €15 total were big bargains).

FYI try to keep the order total under 22 euros or you are theoretically liable for VAT. Since they dont charge for shipping there is no advantage to you to group stuff together.

The oddest thing I bought from them was a bamboo slingshot - pretty good!

None of my orders have gone missing (yet).

I did buy 3 bicycle bells with compasses. All 3 arrived broken. I used their Customer process and they sent me 3 more. No need to return the broken ones they just ask you to send photos. Of the 3 replacements, 2 arrived broken  so now they are sending me another 2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,484 ✭✭✭Quackles

Oh, and as for the shipping - never use their 'paid for' faster shipping. I did to get a christmas present, about a month in advance, only just arrived in time :) Then again, might still be waiting if I hadn't plumped for the extra..

I'm trying out the paid for EMS shipping for the first time with my current order, and already there's been a 4 day delay receiving the goods from their supplier. Hopefully it'll be quick enough once they actually ship it.

There is no point really! I have ordered hundreds of dollars worth of stuff off them ( i mean i seriously have spent loads with them!) and have yet to be charged tax on one package! God bless "$35HK Flashlights"!

EDIT: By hundreds of dollars, i mean hundreds of dollars at a time! I'd hate to calculate exactly how much i've spent with them!

sorry for the noob question, never ordered off deal extreme before, it seems to be a US website with pricing in $, do they ship for free to ireland too? and are there any customs VAT issues with ordering from them?

Edit: just found an answer to one question:
"- We ship worldwide at no additional charge."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,992 ✭✭✭Johnny Storm

To answer your other question no VAT is due on "packages of negligible value" which is to say less than 22 Euros.
Unless they contain heroin or tobacco of course....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 92 ✭✭ibook

thanks for that Johnny Storm, i just saw that they're paypal-only, its time I got that paypal account!

Thanks for the great tip Ruu, they arrived today for me, fantastic stuff for the price. They kept me sane today by keeping out all the noise of people whispering while I was studying in the library!

Are the earbuds small? I wouldn't mind getting a pair but I've got small ear canals (don't laugh!) and can't wear a lot of earphones/earbuds.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 501 ✭✭✭BigglesMcGee

I ordered them - and a mobile phone jammer - Peace on the bus in the mornings at last.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,881 ✭✭✭Kurtosis

I ordered the night of May 5th, got a "order sent" email on May 10th and it arrived May 16th, so pretty fast for free shipping, it was obviously a fast carrier pigeon...

As for the size of the earbuds, I really don't know what would consitute normal sized. They do come with two extra rubber surrounds for them so I'm sure they'd be a pretty good fit for the majority of people.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,225 ✭✭✭JackKelly

two sets of earphones for 5.04 is pretty spectacular. I'm always looking for earphones around the house when my decent pair invariably break

Cheers Ruu, ordered a few sets of these.

Plus a whole bunch of other miscellaneous stuff from the site, I could easily spend hours browsing and just clicking the 'buy' button on that site.
