Where would you go?

If you were planning on going travelling for a few months (say 3 months to start off with), where would you go?

I'm 24, finishing college in a couple of weeks (probably for good!) and considering going travelling later in the year, or maybe at the start of next year. Would probably plan to go away for a few months at first and see how i get on. If it's all going well, there is a good chance i will stay away longer!

So, just thought i would ask where you would all go? Just so i can get some ideas! I already have a few idea's, but nothing that i've looked into yet!
All i need now is to find somebody to come with me! lol

    Thanks all!

    South America. No contest.

You could start in Ecuador continuing on to Peru, Bolivia and Argentina.

Or if you decide to go for say 6 months, you could start in Central America, e.g. Panama.

You could literally spend years in S.America and not see it all.

And I've been to Thailand. Which is also nice, but a bit too touristy now.

South America does have tourists/backpackers, but just enough to have the craic with. It's not overdone. Yet.

Yeah 3 months is a great amount of time to see the main sites in South America - the Salt Flats of Bolivia and Macchu Picchu were the highlights for me. Peru is a wonderful country and I regret not having enough time to see more of it.

I also love Asia however - with 3 months, you could see Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and/or Vietnam, and possibly a bit of Southern China. The main advantage here is the cost - its much cheaper to travel through Asia than South America (I found) and flights are also better value.

While South America was fabulous, I'd go back to Asia in a heartbeat!

sorry to butt in, but my question is about south america, how safe is venezuela, going to south america, then flying to cuba from venezuela, just wondering the basic safety of the country

I'd try China. Which you could work into a South East Asia tour.
South America is unbeatable if you've not had the privilege yet. You could spend a lot longer than three months though and it's so worth it!
