itouch and voip

    ok i got the itouch.. jailbroke it and have the touchmods sipvoip.. i registered with freecalls but cannot connect for some reason.. tried with blueface.ie aswell

    any ideas.. they seem to give on sip.blueface.ie as the only other thing u have to put in settings than ur name and pass

    downloaded fring aswell its logging into my skype fine but wont do anything from there

    there's already a thread on this somewhere, unless you have the microphone attachment then it's kinda useless. I got it working a while back but without a mic it's not worth it (yet).

    may be your WiFi / Firewall /Router needs port forwarding.
    Some applications like Fring (or real Skype on PC) may use port 80 and relaying, but SIP based VOIP with Gizmo, Blueface, etc needs inward port forwarding. You may also need TURN, STUN or ICE server settings with some Provider/firewall/Client combinations.

    Try the VOIP forum. I have an E65 phone and Fring* works. But basic SIP only works with a SIP Proxy on the Firewall, or certain providers + port forwarding or a Soft PABX like Asterix or Trixbox on the LAN.

    (with Fring you ARE giving all your messaging and VOIP passwords to a 3rd party. Welcome to Web2.0 where you have no privacy).
