    The tool you require,if the unit is caged,and not bolted into place,is called a biro(generic name "ballpoint":D)
    Pop off the face,and look right and left in the opening,you'll see two small latches,which can be flipped by a pen tip,or a small pointed tool of any variety.there should be no need to slide anything down the side at all.
