Ok, not a Hibernia student YET, but working on it, so can't answer all your q's.

I'm 28, also working fulltime in IT & also have mortgage.
Would also be my intention to stay in my job for as long as possible, but realistically, unless you have a very understanding boss, you won't be able to do this for the full duration of the course.
You do most of the course in the eves, an onsite on average every other Sat. I think about 3-4 months into the course you have your 1st TP.
You have 3 TPs in total. I think they last 4 weeks, 4 weeks & 5 weeks, & then also 3 weeks of gaeltacht. So, as you can see, that's a lot of time needed off, so for that reason I can't see you being able to work fulltime for the whole duration. There are also PE classes, but I think these are at the weekend.
I don't know about the exams, but I though you only had one set of final exams, after the 18 months. The rest of the CA being taken up be the TPs & assignments.
Hibernia interviews are ongoing throughout the year.
You apply whenever you want & generally between 1-2 months you get called for an interview.
If successful, you pay a deposit to secure your place, then the total balance of the fees have to be paid before the start of the course.

There are no grants available for Hibernia, but I believe you can claim tax back on the fees.

I did the course the very first time it was offered. I had subbed before and I got a temp. f/t job teaching with I continued throughout the course. I was able to do the Tps in mt own school - just move to a different classroom for the 4 or 5 weeks and so swao with the teacher there. The Gaeltacht was during the summer hols and the pe was a full week at Easter when I did it. I did the course that began in Sept and ended the foloowing May 12 months. I also have 2 small children and was able to keep up with everything - lots of late nights but your laptop will be your best friend throughout the course! About 3 Saturdays a month for lectures and maybe one live online tutorial per week (just an hour but at a set time)
I know becasue I was teaching it was easy to fit in the course and it will not be possible to have a temp contract while unqualified anymore - but you can still do sub work...maybe even get a maternity leave which nowadays is a pretrty long stint.
HIbernia will like you to have sub experience before you will be taken on the course from what I hear from friends who are currently on the course
