[Wanted] Single mother student wants accommodation for South Dublin

    hey all
    just wondering whats the story with being a single mother and renting as a student. im starting college in sept. entitled to rent allowance does tiss apply when ur a student?

    all advice appricated....must be good tho!:confused:

    I don't see why it shouldn't apply. Have a word with you locacl Community Welfare Officer. I suspect you need to check your entitlements also.

    Some college accommodation has places set aside for families. Look early.

    Contact the Student's Union in the college you will be attending. They normally have an accomadation officer who will be in a position to help you.

    i actually did that already and they passed me on to the youth info centre and they said they dont cater for single parents accomadation nut there might be a list out in june/july i might get something on..im finding this strande as its a vtos course.....

    Well, UCD, who are in the area, appear to be pretty well organised in this respect (I've used them personally). They keep a record of student accommodation registered with them which they make available to whoever needs it. I am not sure whether this would include accommodation suitable for a young child, perhaps this is why you were sent to the youth info centre? It is a bit strange to be honest....

    It might be worthwhile ringing Dunlaoghaire Rathdown Council- who have an accommodation officer themselves, they might be able to point you in the right direction.
