USB's on DVD players question

    Just wondering the DVD players that have a USB on the front of them can you play moives from the memory stick

    Like if i put a divx(avi) movie onto the stick and put it into the DVD player.. will the movie play from the stick?

    Some of the super cheap models might only display JPEGs or allow you to play mp3 files. If it can play divx files, it should be on the box or in the specs (the little logo). I picked up one in Lidl a good while back and it can play divx.

    some of them can only play divx on dvds. the one i have can play divx from usb or dvd, but its an expensive one.

    also a good idea to check if its usb1 or usb2. You want USB2 as its faster so your playback will be better. Some current models I've seen are still only USB 1.

    If it says "Media Player" on the DVD player, it should be able to play movies from external drives. Was able to hook my Archos via USB to a mates DVD player, and play a DivX movie from it. T'was cool.
