    I've never cleaned mine. Ever.

But I'm generally a filth magnet anyway so I'll manage.

I have to admit my last keyboard was absolutely disgusting. It looked like someone found it in a dump. Quite ashamed of it, when I see it now in the attic. Have been cleaning my new one regularly since...

As I work in an engineering/manufacturing company my keyboard is exposed to oil, grease, dust, metal fillings, weld dust, and general gunk. It's not a pretty sight!

My lappie is clean as a whistle and my home pc is grand apart from a few crumbs and the odd dog hair in between the keys.

Mines filthy. Don't know what exactly is on it, but backspace and the enter key appear to have collected what could be dead skin (?)

Funnily enough, the letter I key also seems to be one of the most used too :D

Pretty sure there's crisp crumbs somewhere in my laptop. Sometimes I have to press a key a few times till I hear a crunch.

To be fair it's only the toe (key?) jam keeping my ol' keyboard together. I'll take the risk thanks. Besides, it keeps others away from my PC.

The keyboard on my laptop has spawned a new breed. They're called Whorlocks. They're quite friendly and often hold campfires around the end and home button. The backspace button is missing as this is where their homes are mostly situated.

I use a wireless keyboard so they can be left in peace. Oh those Whorlocks and their funny ways.

    I share mine with 6 - count 'em - six people. It's used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's disgusting.

So every week or two I get a can of compressed air - which our company's stores handily keeps in stock - and give it a good spray. It's filthy when you see the stuff coming out. Mostly hair but who ****!n knows what's in there in all fairness.

I generally use the brand new laptop instaed :)

I have to clean mine pretty regularly but I have a white Macbook so the crap and dirt would look real bad if it wasn't cleaned regularly.

well you know a complatly cleen enviroment is bad for you - you need germs i mean i shower and all but well i would upload a video of the last house i was in but it would be removed for promoting illigal activity, it was toxic there was paste growing out of the kitchen floor.

For a company to clean a keyboard it costs around 6-8 Euros per unit. For a company to replace a keyboard it costs around 5 euros per unit. Go figure. And yet we still clean them.

Is there a disposal fee? Would you like them to replace them or find someone cheaper to clean them?

Even if you do something as simple as fold over a small bit of paper and run it along between the rows of keys, you'll pick up a bit of dust and dirt. So cleaning doesn't have to be a difficult process. You can do something as simple as just turn it up side down and give it a bit of a shake, and lots of things will come out. If you press any key down, you can easily wipe the dust off the upper part of the side of a neighbouring key.

I have done a more thorough cleaning. A few years ago I accidentally spilt a drink into it, so there was orange juice in it. I had to disassemble it to dry it out and clean it. I took the opportunity of cleaning the individual keys too. You have to be careful when taking it apart as the screws are very small. The biggest problem of all is of course putting it back together correctly. I had to do it a few times before it would work properly. When you are taking it apart, carefully note how it goes together and in particular where the wires come in and connect etc. A few months ago my spacebar wasn't working properly so I again had to take it apart, though I didn't do a big cleaning job this time. It took a few careful attempts to put it back together so it would work properly. So the advice is: clean it, but be careful taking it apart and putting it back together.

Most charity's will take decent keyboards free of charge. We can and do replace them often, we just get them cleaned once a year. It seems such a waste as very few of the keyboards are older then 2. And as I said above, its cheaper to replace them.
