    I'm doing 40 mins a day on an exercise bike at the moment, it doesn't have a reading to tell you how many calories you have burnt but it has a watt reading and I keep this at about 100 watts for 40 mins, could anyone tell me how many calories that is ?, thanks

    Factoring up a few recent cycles I get the following approximations, depending on intensity.
    my log wrote:
    Bike 18.8 km (45:00, ~450 cals) --> 400 cals for 40 mins (moderate-ish)

    Bike 8 km (16:45, ~120 cals I think) --> 280 cals for 40 mins (slow-ish)

    Go by yourself. If you can chat while doing that 40 minutes, then reckon around 400 cals an hour. If you are puffing and sweating, but can just about sing or hold a conversation, then 600 an hour. If you are going full belt, "drive it like you stole it", then 800-1000 cals an hour.

    100 Watts, unless you're 40kg, is generally less than active recovery on a bike, so I'd say very very little calories burnt.

    whats active recovery ? maybe I miss read the readout, I was going at a reasonably fast pace for the 40 minutes so I'd be very surprised if I burnt very very few calories, the distance covered was 13.5 kilometers
