From Sunday - summer arrives allbeit with High pressure to the Northeast. It should insure a comfortably Southerly or Southeasterly flow and, by proxy, cloudless skies - so enjoy!:):pac:

Temps around 18 - 23C - could be higher but atm 23 is absolute maximum in local areas.

Last time you mentioned summer weather was on the way, it snowed.:pac:

Anyway Gerry Fleming was not hopeful and indicated a mild damp holiday weekend last night.

Thats because Gerry Fleming knows Wexford will be shrouded in fog...

RTE has 21C over Ireland for next tuesday and wednesday so things are starting to look good especially after temperatures that have struggled into double figures over the past month.

Gosh, have we got a continental climate now? Cool or even cold all spring and now warm summer almost bang on time!!!

    Cracking summer guaranteed!!!

Last april was a scorcher and summer was a washout.
This april was ****e, so the summer will be roasting!

    Simple,

    I think!

"It will get even warmer during the early days of next week as the winds back southeast to east - generally no more than moderate in strength. Temperatures likely to reach into the low twenties in places. A lot of dry, settled weather expected, too. There should be reasonably good sunny periods most days, but the nights could be misty with some fog developing locally."

Nice forecast, are the models still agreeing with this?

    ECMWF's 00z outlook for 12z Wednesday.
Wouldn't be surprise to see a potentially thundery trough or two getting wrapped up in the flow either...:)

Hmm...GFS is showing much lower temps on the east coast. 14/15 vs 20/21 in the midlands/west. Hopefully it wont turn out to be days of easterly gloom....

Yeah I think that may be what happens - at first anyway. When the winds go more southerly or southwesterly later next week it should become warmer in the east. Some thundery showers look like breaking out inland in the West next week aswell.

    Excellent news.:D

The ECM in particular really prolongs the warm settled weather. It looks like being sunny and increasingly warm through next week. By the end of next week some places could possibly hit 24, maybe even 25C locally. Does not look to be a breakdown in the weather for the forseeable future. Catch a storm though and chances are they will be heavy.

Looking at wetterzentral animations, it seems like high pressure is in charge for at least 2 weeks, so once again it looks like the "shoulder" month is bringing probably the best conditions until August!

Possibility of a showery/thundery breakdown towards the end of the week...?

    Recm1201.gif

Going by that one chart/outlook from the latest ECM run, could be the potential for some more prolonged thundery rain in southern areas. However, a long way off yet, and could be dropped in later runs.

My daughters confirmation is on Saturday...Will we be able to take pictures in the garden without being rained on do you reckon?:D

"Tomorrow Tuesday will be another mainly dry day with spells of warm hazy sunshine. However it will be cloudier further west, with the odd spot of drizzle along Atlantic coasts. Highest temperatures 17 to 22 degrees, in a moderate southeasterly wind.
Tuesday night and Wednesday will be dry in most places with clear spells overnight and spells of warm sunshine during the day. However, in the far west of Connacht and Munster it will be cloudier with a risk of a little coastal drizzle. Temperatures will reach the high teens to the low twenties, away from coasts exposed to the light south or southeast breeze. It will stay warm on Thursday and Friday, but there will be more in the way of cloud about. Showers are likely to develop each day. Not all areas will get the showers, but where they do occur they could be heavy. Winds will be light to moderate, east or southeast"

Still a good forecast, what are the models saying re how long it will last?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭Snowbie

It is one of those forecasts where "will i bring a jumper out for just in case" here along the east coast. Lovely sun but with a wind coming in off a cold Irish sea almost defeats the purpose.
Not a great forecast for warm and sunny here, more like chilly and sunny.

Around 17 and climbing in UCD area, not a cloud in the sky around here.

Very warm here, although a good breeze too!
Managed to record 21.6c at 3.26pm

20° on Derg today. Blue skies and sunburnt faces coming into the marina tonight.

    Absolutely superb.

There will be brief interuption to our fine warm spell. It will be Thursday or Friday it will break down (perhaps with thundery showers) but after that it looks fine and warm again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,863 ✭✭✭hawkwing

"Thursday will be very warm and humid, with hazy sunshine. However, there is an increasing possibility of some showery rain developing, with a risk of thunder, especially in the west and south. Breezy, with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds. Max. temperatures in the high teens to low 20s inland, possibly close to the mid 20s in any sunshine. :) Cooler along exposed east and south coasts in the breeze. On Friday and Saturday, temperatures will fall back a few degrees. There will be some bright or sunny intervals, but also a little showery rain in places. Fog patches will develop at night. Sunday will be mainly dry, with sunny spells and light variable winds. "

So is Saturday looking like a decent enough day, albeit with a chance of some showers? Daughters communion and hoping to have a barbecue at the house etc. MrsHairyFairy is now panicking about the weather being bad etc.

Get the barbie out, have a great day. The weather will have little to do with it.

Could be a renewel of the warm snap at the start of next week if latest ECMWF is to be believed:

    msl_uv850_z500!Wind%20850%20and%20mslp!144!Europe!pop!od!oper!public_plots!2008050612!!chart.gif

Encouraging signs that pressure will remain to the north-east early next week, and even more encouraging is that pressure remains reasonably low over Biscay. Not set in stone, but nice to observe....

Is it likely that this haze will persist into the start of next week, or should the front forecast for today clear the air?

I think the SW flow will be pushed back west by an easterly so hazy again.

    Mike.

Ah crap. Thanks Mike, just as I suspected. It's nice weather if you want to sit on the beach but not if you want to go anywhere (by air).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,285 ✭✭✭TheHairyFairy

gonker we are going with the barbecue here, Fermanagh. I think there may be showers ahead, :p, however not enough to ruin a whole day. Then again I know feck all about weather tbh. I also await the knowledgeable ones to post.

I think you'll be grand, worst case scenario it will be warm and cloudy, hardly a BBQ show stopper, go order the burgers and charcoal :D
