Wedding Worries

We went to register ourselves a few weeks ago, signing all the documents etc. and while we were chatting away my OH tells this story of a friends sister who got married last year, herself and the husband went to get their wedding cert about a month ago only to find they weren't registered as married, after some digging it turned out the priest messed up and never sent away teh documentation.
Shocking as it is the registrar said she wasn't surprised, these mistakes are rife.
Another couples forms weren't even submitted before the wedding, and to make it worse they didn't know they had to sign forms produce birth certs etc. Now after coming from england to have a fabulous ceremony they're not married and have to do it again with the registrar.

I think I'm putting this up as a word of warning. I couldn't imagine how upsetting it would be to have that happen.

My cousin was a chief bridesmaid at her best friends wedding and the bride had a relative that was a priest and asked him to do the wedding. This was one of his first weddings and when the parish priest was organising the documentation he realised something was wrong. He arrived at the door of the newlyweds and told them the bride had married the bridesmaid and the bestman had married the groom! Was sorted out but they will always have that funny story to tell!

Fair play to for starting this thread CJay. It is very important that you have all of the paper work down to a fine art. You spurred me on to check I should be ok for July. Apparently from Nov last year you have to go into them as well as having your paper work sent in, and receipted by return. We received our receipt but its dated for Apr 2007.

Nobody informed us of this. There is a guy due to call me back on it this afternoon, but he seems optimistic he can help. Thank God.

Heres a link for those of you wanting to double check that everything is above board.

    Thanks again Cjay.

Despite having signed up within the period requested by the CATHOLIC CHURCH, and the wedding is in a few weeks time, they manage to finally send documents from one parish down south to another parish up north, but guess what, they haven't arrived.

They are asked to do a simple thing like SEND THEM ON TIME PLEASE and despite asking them periodically during the 6 month period, they kept saying "Don't worry about the papers, it will be fine" Of course, do you think they would register them? Oh no!

I am just wondering who I should be praying to now. St. Anthony or St. Jude!!

Jeez, the stress is bad enough.

Hopefully they will arrive in the next few days.
