    GP-110 GPS from Mag

Shipping €14 and it lists Ireland as covered. Looks amazing value - with a ll the leads and mount etc. I came across it looking for maps for my handheld GPS and thought I'd check the cost of a compete car nav. This is cheaper than buying maps!
TeleAtlas 2007 maps of Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norwat, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK

Looks a great offer but does it include the maps or do they have to be bought seperately?

I have it, it has maps of all europe, works fine, however car holder is crappy and power supply comes with european plug.

Do you have any experience with other Sat Navs? I have been contemplating buying the Tomtom One v3 Western Europe which works out at about 180 euro if you buy it up North. (See Here)

    How would this one compare?

from personal experience I find that providing the sat nav does what it's supposed to (i.e. get me to a place I don;t know quickly and directly, then I am happy. johnfas - guess it depends what you want from your sat nav. Some can play mp3's / movies, others will have a passive speed cam detection system (via d/l software of permanent speed traps), others you can change the voice to sound like a movie star, whilst others might have an advanced 3d mapping system.......if you ask me they are all gimmicks.

the only issues I would consider are 1: who supplies the mapping? (worth checking reviews to find out who comes out best for the area you are in) and 2: size of screen. 3: people's experiences of using the unit (the actual gps function rather than other functions)

I have a piddly little Garmin i3 with a 2.5" screen but it does what I need - if I make a wrong turn it recalculates and so far (touch wood) has never let me down. I can upgrade the mapping via memory card / download as and when available (for a cost of course!). I'm not saying others out there aren;t great units...they often are, however make sure you spend the money for the right reasons, not because it has a 'built in bluetooth subwoofer with 24 auxillery inputs allowing full HDMI connection to your 50" plasma!'

Here the manufacturers site with some more info on the unit:

cant seem to find many reviews of it tho??

Couldn't agree more with this...there's so many gadgets and gizmos around now that 'do it all' like built in bluetooth calls etc, and invariably in my experience they do the primary function well, and everything else poorly. e.g. how many people got rid of their ipod when mobiles phones started playing MP3's? They just don't do it well enough. I was very close to buying one of the top of the range Garmins that do it all (MP3, phone etc), but went for their most basic unit in the end for this reason and I'm glad I did.

I got a Garmin Nuvi 250 last week from http://www.handtec.co.uk/

I got it shipped to Northern Ireland and it arrived the very next day. Came to about 122 euro in total. Shipping to the republic of Ireland would probably bring it closer to 130. Peats and play.com have the exact same model for 195 euro :p

It's a pretty great GPS too!

I agree that if you want a satnav buy a sat nav and if you want an MP3 player or a hairdryer buy a.... Which is why I posted on this one - it's no frills, reasonable price and has a USB cable from which I assume it should be easy to upgrade the maps. (as quoted in OP and confirmable in less time than typing a question by clicking on the included link!)

The mapping company appear to be a big player and the price seems unbeatable. Having seen a friends car broken into for a Sat Nav, keeping the price down (i.e. semi-dipsosable) might be a bigger consideration then every last feature. Keep in mind it may get
    a)nicked or
b)damaged when you stuff it under the seat to avoid a)

Good to hear from jaceq that it works OK.

    .

Reading through their website there, in the manual for this it states:
"The USB cable is provided for future applications. It is not for your system
    to operate at present."
So, not sure if it would be easy to update the maps.
