Can anyone here tell me of their experience with VOIP with Irish Broadband, I am looking into getting something setup but don't know much about it and would appreciate if someone could give me an insight, as I'd like to know is it worthwhile? Many thanks in advance.

Hi, I've recently setup a Blueface account on my Breeze 3Mb connection. At the moment it's working well in fact it's probably better in quality than my old landline.

However I have had problems in the past with the IBB connection. When I first attempted to use VoIP I found that I was experiencing large packet loss especially in the evenings. This makes your connection useless for VoIP. After about a month of constant complaints to support they finally seem to have fixed the issue and although there is still some small packet loss it does not affect voice calls noticeably.

My advice to you would be to download the network test application from Blueface here and run it over a period of several days especially during peak times. It will give you a good idea of your connections suitability for VoIP.

Also Blueface have a free trial where you download a softphone and can make calls with it. Give it a try and best of luck.
