Does anyone know if its true that teachers have to have some special health test done before they can take up a Department paid post? What does it involve?

The only thing I had to fill out was a health form thing. Just alot of health related questions in which you either tick yes or no to whatever applies to you.

The CDVEC has a medical exam which must be 'passed' before a person's appointment is ratified.
It's been a few years since I did mine but it was very basic - blood pressure, general health questions. I know a colleague who was not ratified until he lost some weight, but overall it wasn't terribly thorough.

I had to do a medical for my job (Roscommon VEC), although I was teaching for about 4 months before they got around to it. Fairly straightforward stuff, general history, height, weight, might have had my pulse taken, nothing too strenuous.
