Sounds good, any chance there will be sats for this leading up to ME?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,070 ✭✭✭Ollieboy

make the clock 45 and you might get people, 30 mins is a joke for 500 event now.

If there's antes included in the structure, it better be 45 mins as it takes the dealers that long to collect the blinds.

Did you see the 500 in the SE, great structure.

    Please make this 45 mins.

glad you said it ollie, since i don't play many big buy in events, but i too thought the 30 min clock was way to short.

Ya, 45 min clock, 5pm start. Otherwise it will bomb with all the competition. Also, run sats on Thursday nights as a 70+5 FO with 6k chips, 25 min clock. Should get at least 5 tickets per night for a few weeks to boost numbers as it will be difficult to get a good showing otherwise. Also, don't give tickets to this as part of regular prize pools that would be terrible.

Also, on a side note, say up front on your scheule what tickets will be given out on nights as part of regular prize pools as it stands. This is generally not a great way to attract new punters that might play elsewhere. I don't like the whole idea of it in general.

Right I've talked to Denise and come up with a new structure. It is still going to be a 30 minute clock (look at the levels before you complain). And it will be a 2 day event if required (Day 2 being the sunday starting back at 6pm)

EDIT: Structure being changed. See later followup post for structure.

Nic, why are you guys against the 45 minute clock out of interest? That is a nice blind and ante structure though I will admit. That said, I always think more time on the clock is better but we'll see.

To make room early on for cash games maybe??? Looking at the revised structure some of the levels are just stupid and still does not have as much play over the full tourney.....why not go 45 min clock and give the customers what they want.

why to TD keep having to **** around with tournament structures.

The standard tournment is 10k with all levels 1 hour clock, anything above 1k event should have this as standard. Increase the clock or the starting stack. My perfer is 15k starting stack with 75/90 min clock, but over a weekend, 1 hour clock is fine with 15k starting stack.

This structure is ridiculous. You've repeat levels, so in short the structure will still play like a 45 min clock. The problem is higher blind levels increases the pressure on really tight players to start playing, dragging out the blind increase will make the game a lot slower, instead of having the standard which everyone is use too.

The standard for a 500 level game should be 8-10k with 45 min clock. Starting to **** around with the structure to confuse people is bollox. I'm not paying 500 for a 30 min clock whatever the structure is.

Also, a 30 min clock for a ante structure event is a joke, it usually takes the dealer 5 mins every level to collect the antes.

Sorry Nic, I know your doing you best, but if the Fitz dont want to run decent structure tourneys then thats a real pity as its one of the best rooms in Dublin. I'm guessing the reason you dont want a 45 min clock is that some of the regulars want a fast game with very little skill.

when was the last live event you played Ollie out of curiosity?

I think that sometime changing the structure isnt necessarily bad, and to get tght players out of their comfort zone is a good thing too imo. dont knock it til you've tried it.
I don't think its anywhere near as good as Neill's game though in saying that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,071 ✭✭✭Jayminator

Ollie very good points but yet again this is a commercial decision to make room for the more profitable cash game tables.. Several people have asked for the 45 minute clock, gave their reasons why etc etc and yet the Fitz still ignores the punters and comes back with that ****e.

Why bother... Brick walls spring to mind

Clock seems fine to me for a tourney of this size. Its actually structured better than a lot of 45 min clock tourneys.

Joe I'm always playing and I played a excellant structure tourney at CHL's last weekend, which at 10k starting stack and 30 minute clock for first 6 levels and than 40 min clock, at this for 200 freeze out. Which I think is far to good.

    If I'm paying for a 500 event, I expect a 8-10k starting stack and 40+ min clock.

The structure Nic as create is good and allows a lot of play and I agree with your point about taking people out of there comfort zone, but all this messing with structures is just putting the average player off and confusing them. Currently the market for live poker is getting smaller, so keeping things simple for new players is more attractive.

Joe do you always disagree, just to disagree by the way? I dont mind people adding to a structure to increase the value, but this is only suiting one person not having a longer clock.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 321 ✭✭nicryan

The reasoning behind the structure that I had posted was because Denise had said that she wanted a 30 minute clock, and I wanted to see if a very slow blind and ante structure worked with a 30 minute clock.

but anyway. Denise has been convinced due to the negative response to the anounced structure that we will be going with a 45 minute clock. The starting stack will still be 10k and I'll post the new ante structure as soon as I've designed it.

I wondered if you were deluded enough to think there was such a thing as a "standard poker tournament structure", and if you were, that it was utterly different from almost every poker tournament that is actually run. Or if you were making some kind of joke, perhaps to make a point.

One more thing that I forgot to mention yesterday.

From this week forward, thursday nights will be a €50+5 wth 1 rebuy or add on tournament as satellites to the fitz 500 and once we're past that date, they'll be satellites to the festival.

it was nothing to do with your moaning ollie. There were other factors. I will be posting more details on the satellites later on this evening after I run the structure by denise cause she has the final say on it.

So I should have the structure up here late this evening or tomorow morning depending on when I get a few minutes to post it.

I'm was only kidding Nic, but it was great that Denise listen to the players. So any chance of getting this push back a week, I would love to play a 500 event, have missed everything so far this year except the IO.

Gl with it, I hope the numbers are big

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 321 ✭✭nicryan

    I'm hoping that too :D

    right...the satellites...

the satellites will replace the regular thursday double chance tournament and will be a 50+5 with 1 rebuy or add on for 50.

there will be a 20 minute clock before the break moving to a 25 minute clock after (break after level 3)

the normal blind structure in the fitz will be used and there will be antes introduced in the 150/300 level.

right guys...another satellite is on tonight. Last week we had 5 tickets.

and as a note to the people who already have tickets, if you win another ticket it will be a ticket into the 500 game during the festival or used as part of the buy in to the main event of the festival.
