Can Bose earbud wires be spliced?

No, the dog didn't eat my homework. She did, however, chew through my $100 Bose earbud wires. I stipped the ends of both wires and spliced the copper to copper, red to red and blue to blue wires together. It didn't work. Don't know what to do next. Suggestions, preferably with a step by step guide with pictures if…
