PS3 and Eircom broadband

Right so PS3 set up and ready to go.

Have WEP enabled eircom BB in the house.

Went through the connection settings (manual and scan) on the PS3.

Keyed in the WEP key and it's not working. Now with this BB you get option to use one of 4 WEP keys that are generated.

I'm using key 2 and i'm wondering if this is the problem as the PS3 doesn't seem to have facility to enter a key index?!

I'm wondering if anyone's had similar problems?

    Help please!!

I presume its not allowing you to log in? Is your router set up for MAC Address filtering? If it is, you need the MAC adress of your PS3, enter it into the relevant settings on the router and save. Sometimes it requires a restart of the PS3 and then it will allow it to access the router.

    OP,

I would change the wireless mode on your Eircom router to WPA from WEP. WEP is a very insecure wireless mode especially on Eircom supplied routers.

With WPA key, you can enter a keyphrase that is based on alphanumerical data.

i'm nearly certain that on the router home page, that ya have to enable one of the keys it gives u, its under the las key it shows so only that one will work and mac filtering isnt enabled as standard on eircom routers
