Myred in the EPL

I see ManU fans are in good company...
against all my noblest and most refined instincts, I desperately want Manchester United to win both the premiership and the Champions' league.

This is demeaning, unmanly stuff. For if intelligence had anything to do with such matters, I would be supporting Arsenal -- a sophisticated and urbane team managed by a gentleman.

Yet like a married Tory politician wandering onto a common infested with rent-boys, his wallet and fly wide open, I am drawn, against all my best and noblest instincts, into praying for a double Manchester United triumph.

I dont quite get the point of this article.

Yes, i understand the EL Vs the Premiership debate.
I also understand the linguistic stupidity of the Premiership/Championship/First Division scenario.

But i still dont quite understand this article.
Did he write it just to tell us that he is a Man Utd fan?
Did he then spend the first 3 or 4 paragraphs talking about famous irish people and what they might do in their spare time because he had nothing else to say other than the fact that he is a Man Utd fan?

Why label Ferguson a bully, and not bother quantifying that?

    Strange.

He didnt, but i was reading the comments underneath and the debate was coming into it....my apologies :D

EDIT: Infaact no, it is alluded to in the headline and thoughout the "article" that he hates the fact that not only does he follow the premiership, but also the fact that he follows Man Utd in that league.

Kinda reminds me of a statement one of my mates came out with one night (might not be his original) "Not everyone who supports man united is a tosser, but you can be sure every tosser you meet will support man united!"

Even in the midst of his perfectly understandable self-loathing, as with so many of his colleagues, it doesn't even occur to him to support an Irish club. Nor, for that matter, Leicester, whence he hails.
