Here is one thing I notice quite alot and I don't fully understand on this forum, and I have seen it on other fora too. Why is it that when somebody receives bad service from a dealer or garage who is quite obviously taking the piss, they can't name the culprit in question ?

I'm thinking they might be able to sue if you make up alot of bad stuff about them that isn't necessarily true. That is libel which is fair enough, but if you post something that is true and that actually happened, is it still libel ? Can boards.ie be sued ?

I think Boards.ie cannot be sued, but I remember cases when somebody put sth here and was politely asked to remove it before legal action is taken. personally I will do such a thing myself if I receive bad service ever and no bloody one will scare me. personal impression and libel are two different things. people has right to know

As experience shows, boards can be sued.

Whether such an action would be justified, or has a (legal) leg to stand on doesn't really matter, it's hassle and cost that boards doesn't need.
