    So,
I am havin massive difficulties connecting my PS3 with Irish broadband, timing out, error codes, you name it.
I have looked at the router, port forwarded, DMZ'ed. I'm convinced it is IBB, has anybody had any experience with this ISP and connecting their PS3.
Also, can anybody please, recommend me a decent ISP for PS3 connectivity.
My first post, I appreciate and response, or help.

    Cheers lads...

Wow, thanks for the quick response. Yeah, I think IBB will be getting the boot. I'm thinkin maybe Magnet or Eircom.

    Hello Mephistophles,

If you have the option, i'd go with Smart Telcom over Eircom. I dislike Eircom to say it very nicely. With Smart you have no download limits, faster connectin speeds etc. I have to good mates that have smart and are having no problems playing the ps3.

Hey, yeah, I looked at Smart Telecom, they looked very impressive alright. Gave them a call, and knowing my luck, they don't offer the service out in my direction! Which is a pain in the...... Thanks for the recommendation though!!
So Eircom isn't meant to be that good, I think that leaves me with the opions of Magnet or Bt Ireland.
Anybody have any experience with these.

Alright lads I have the exact same problems signing into the PS network. Im using IBB 2Mb Breeze connection and I dont use a router. I just plug ethernet cable directly from the radio unit into the PS3. I have the playstation about three months and I think i have ever signed in about two times. And the joy doesnt last long either, I get signed out after a few mins. Ive been on other forums and threads and nobody seems to know what the craic is. Ive no problem accessing the web from the PS3 and my speeds are pretty decent. I rang up IBB the other day and they said that they have no problems with the PSN, but then again they're goin to say that aren't they. :o Any legends out there that can help?

    Isn't Ireland great
1st we are actually happy with some of the worst speeds in the EU
2nd they do not even provide us with the speeds we do pay for

Paying for 2meg and getting 1.7meg is not ok

no need to be so sarcastic
its better than nothin isnt it
what isp gives ya the full d/l other than smart
payin for 2meg and gettin 1.7 meg is better than payin for 2meg and gettin half of it

You haven't a clue what you're talking about mate.
With DSL overheads and mb to MB conversion, 1.7MB is the max speed out of 2mb line.

Then what is the max from 3m?

I decided to reply cause I am very angry as well. My Irish broadband rip wave is a joke. It's speed is up to the traffic in M50! I started with the cheapest version of rip wave and after a month I had to options. The first was to upgrade and the second to suicide. I did the first. I called the company and asked them for upgrade. There was no difference. I called them again to find out what on earth is going on. They explained to me they had to downgrade my broadband I can't cause I asked it which I didn't!!! A lot of times they mentioned that I am not on the coverage but I am....

What can I do for better browsing. I have no phone line. The other companies Eircom, 02... have limits in downloads so that means I have to pay around 500euro per month cause 20gb or 10gb is just to open your mailbox and watch 2 or 3 video clips on you tube per day. Any chance??? (My area is in Clontarf)

I've had a lot of problems with IBB as well. When i first got the ps3 i had no problems whatsoever and thought IBB was the best but then all off a sudden it wouldn't let me sign in to my PSN and when i did get signed in it signed me out within a few minutes. I rang IBB and they didn't have a clue so i messed about with my ps3 and router and i somehow got it to work (don't ask me how) and havn't had any problems since. Was very weird but im not complaining at the minute but we'll see how long it lasts.
