    Hi Maconites,
Any recommendations for a decent, and hopefully free, audio editing tool besides from Audacity. I really don't like Audacity on OS X. I find it very Windows looking and buggy.

There don't seem to be many free/OS options out there. I'm downloading Adobe Soundbooth CS3 at the moment. I have never heard of it before though. It's not too badly priced $199 either.

I'm just looking for some simple editing, noise reduction, two channel editing, fade in/outs, etc..

Fission isn't bad as a free option. Depending on what you want to do, there are a good few options available to you. PT obviously is the pick of the bunch but it aint free. Logic etc all cost a fair buck. Pity you dont like Audacity, it really is the best free option available. No other free app offers anything close to the same functionality.

I ended up using Audacity in the end.
I did the trick but it isn't as user friendly as I would want. I will probably end up using Audition on a PC or something for future recording requirements.

Thanks for all the other suggestions.

I love Audtion. I've been using it since the Cool Edit Pro days.

Wish they'd bring it out for mac as I have to boot camp into Vista so that I can run it on my Mac Book Pro.

6 months ago I'd have loved to see CoolEdit Pro on the Mac - I even installed BootCamp to run just it - then came SoundTrack Pro 2. Goodbye Cooledit . . . and Bootcamp !!!

Soundtracks method of workflow is far superior imo - I love having the mixer and individual plugins per track and non destructive editing with editing in the track instead of opening a new window. It's not too much of a problem changing from one to the other either. Within a couple of hours I was hooked.
