    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any dealing with people who have this cert or if anyone knows its worth in the industry.

It seems quite good to be honest, but these courses can vary in value.
It seems the course content is pretty much the same as other personal trainer courses (NCEF, NASM), might not be as well regarded in the industry though.

Is Fred Hatfield in some way involved with the ISSA?

"Frederick C. Hatfield, MSS, PhD, is Co-founder and President of the ISSA. Dr. Hatfield, (aka "Dr. Squat") won the World Championships three times in the sport of powerlifting, and performed a competitive squat with 1014 pounds at a body weight of 255 pounds (more weight than anyone in history had ever lifted in competition)."

Ok, I've probably overlooked blatantly obvious information here, but just looking at the ISSA course at Portobello. Can you take it without any experience? I'm just wary that a qualification can be achieved over only 6 weekends.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

No there is no experience required ! But I honestly believe that some prior experience would be a huge benefit. I done the course and did pass but found it very intense. There is a lot required of you to do alone .. So realistically its not only 6 weekends.

I did enjoy the course though. But feel like some of the guys in the course who had previous experience did have an advantage .

Thanks for the prompt response Linda. Just from experience, is the ISSA as well recognised in Ireland as, say, the NCEF or NCEHS? So, on receiving this qual, you can get a job as an instructor or PT without additional quals?

since i got the qualification i've had a certain gym constantly ask me to drop a cv in. They seem to think the ISSA qualification is highly recognised.

However, as linda said it is a tough course. I had completed the NCEF fitness instructor course beforehand and that made a huge difference.

Its a personal trainer course, not a fitness instructor course. you wont be qualified to teach aerobic/circuit classes or anything like that.

Just one more question guys. They don't have the exam fees up on the Portobello site yet. Anybody know roughly how much these are or how much they have been in previous courses?
