    Hi guys,

Having visited a of of hotels in the Clare/Limerick area, my fiancé and I have narrowed down our decision to:

    a) Bunratty Castle Hotel, Bunratty or
    b) Old Ground Hotel or Templegate Hotel, Ennis

Having some trouble deciding and just wondering if anyone has been to weddings at either venue and has any recommendations?

They are all lovely venues, we are having trouble deciding because the Bunratty hotel is very close to the church with lots of parking and no traffic but even its basic menu options are more expensive than most hotels, while the Old Ground and Templegate are bad for both parking and traffic but have very good reputations for their food, which is reasonably priced..has anyone eaten at Bunratty and can vouch that its good, and hopefully good value?? We might go to sample a meal there but thats just adding another cost to the budget, suppose it might have to be done!

    Thanks for any suggestions...

would also recommend Bunratty Castle. Sister got married there and had a great day, wedding co-ordinator (Damien i think) was excellent. Handy location with plenty of accommodation for all budgets:P

I would have to recommend Bunratty as I have been to a number of weddings there and photographed at one wedding at the castle. even though we had no access to the castle itself (the wedding party only paid for enterance to the park and used a different hotel), the pics went really well. I know a few people who have had their wedding at the castle and said it was worth it. Have a sample dinner there and also look at pics of their wedding dinners. they should have samples to show you along with the menu.
Hope this has been of help

We visited both of these hotel's on our quest for the perfect venue.

The Old Ground has great food (i've ate there on many occasions) ... but we were very dissapointed with the room they used for the wedding, not to mention the parking problems. Also, the guy showing us around the hotel mentioned they'd have "security" on the door late at night to prevent any gate crashers - i guess it's a problem with having a hotel right in the middle of town.
Between the two I'd go for Bunratty, none of the problems mentioned above and the setting is lovely for photos - why not try haggling with them, see if they'll throw in something for free? Afterall we're meant to be in a recession, surely hotels are going to be affected by this also ... or am I living in cloud cuckoo land?
