Thinking of getting a Wii but apart from going online, i`d mostly be using the thing on my own. Is it worthwhile, or should is spend more money and get a PS3..

    Cheers

Its a bit of a vague question without more info.

What kind of games do you like?

Are you more likelyu to want to play GTA4 and Halo/gears of war type games or Something Like Mario Galaxy/Mario Kart or Zelda?

and theres not much online to the Wii.

I don't think it works to well on it's own but that might be just the games I have. I've never been a huge fan of Mario games, Galaxy is a good game I just don't like it all that much and don't play it. My nephew loves it though and now wants to be Mario when he grows up, he's absolutely obsessed.

Mario kart doesn't stand up on it's own either. Barrel of laughs with friends but very shallow single player.

Wii play, Rayman and Wii sports have limited one player appeal.

Cheers folks, mainly i`d be using it for Pro Evolution, an odd sports game and an odd shoot em up.

The wii is NOT a single player friendly machine. Unless i have people over, it's never touched. you're def better off getting a PS3 or 360 instead

I disagree, I scarcely play the Wii with others. Only Mario Kart, and that's online.

Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime and Mario Galaxy are just three off the top of my head that I've had countless hours playing alone.

The Godfather, SSX Blur, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4, Mario Galaxy, Zelda...

There's a load more, but those are a few of the excellent games that I play single player on the Wii and enjoy immensely!

Blasphmy!!! heresay!!! Get the hence from this board!!!;)

In all seriousness I dont know what you were expecting from Mario Kart, its Mario and Co, racing karts. Same great fun in single and multiplayer we've been enjoying for over 15 years.

The 360 is the single player console and the best online console but not great for parties unless all your 3 friends are into Halo type games and used to the controller. Otherwise if they are people that don't really like games, they won't really like the 360 most likely.

Its attempts to be a party console are half arsed TBH.

Wii = party console. There are some good games like Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, Super Monkey Ball (also great party play), Metroid Prime 3 etc... and the countless gamecube games and virtual console games if you go down that road.

The Godfather, SSX Blur, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4, Mario Galaxy, Zelda...!

...scarface, pro evo, mario kart, resident evil: UC it just keeps goin!

what pepole have said is right tho, if you want a console thats good for BOTH party and solo play, the wii is the way to go!

I have a 360 and a wii. The wii only gets played if theres a few people round which to be fair has changed recently too because of Halo 3. You really need to like the zelda/mario type games otherwise you'll be looking at it thinkin why did I buy a machine that more resembles a ps2 than a next gen console. I know this will get the reply its all about the gameplay etc.. new controller etc.. but I honestly I dont think its not worth the money. Get a 360 great games, fantastic online, great with pals around and a wonderfully powerful machine HD etc...
I dont need the money but think I will probably sell the wii soon unless something drastic changes about it soon. I know metroid (I dont like it) , Medal of Honour (so much better on 360) and Res evil (100's of better games like it on 360) are games you will use to counter argue but lets be honest here its so far behind other than being a novelty/kids console.
xbox for the next say 2 years then buy a ps3 when it goes down in price and they bring out some better games capable of using the power has.

Well there is every Nintendo game which you won't get anywhere else. Of course if not bloody is your definition of kiddy then they aren't for you I guess.

Mario Kart is class and I can't wait for super smash brothers brawl. Then there is no more heroes if you are looking for a good, non-Nintendo game.

the wii is worth it for Mario galaxy alone. also got mario kart and wii fit which i havent played much of yet. i dont regret buying it at all. never had a gamecube either which helps as i have both zeldas and mario sunshine still to play through. maybe i shouldnt get that xbox for gta, lots of untouched games!

Its true that having a 360 for me has meant I play my Wii a lot less but I still think its a brilliant console.

Its just GTA4 is my god!

He probably has loads of time on his hands because the only console he owns is a Wii and there aren't enough games on it to fill his time... :)

    I'm joking, I'm joking, don't freak out, shoulderchip! :)

Although, in fairness, I own a Wii and a 360 too and the Wii only gets turned on when I have a party or the kids want to play it. I own all the 'must haves' for it and while they were great for a couple of days after they were released, they haven't got the long term appeal that most of the 360 games I own have.
