Hi I really need your help as I dont mix well with technology at all! Last week I was charging my laptop and was using the internet at the same time. I had to go out for a couple of hours so I put it on sleep mode and when I came home I went to log in and it sais that it had found a system error with windows and that it was searchign for problems, this could take a few minutes. nothing heppened and then it asked me to either fix problems or start windows normally. i tried both options but still i cannot get into it. do you have any suggestions as to what mayt be wrong? I only purchased this laptop from Dell in March. Thanks !

Could be either a file system / operating system issue with Vista, or it could be a hard drive related problem (which would be hardware as opposed to software issue).
If you select safe mode from the list of boot options it gives when you turn on the laptop what happens? Does it get to a certain point and then just restart?

Hold the power button in on the laptop for 10 seconds (remove the ac adaptor also) Once it is off, remove the battery from the laptop and resit it back in again. I think your laptop is going to sleep or hibernation instead of actually turning off and restarting. Once its fully off, turn on the laptop again. You should see the "Dell" logo on starting up, once this disappears press the F8 repeatidly until you get a list of boot options, once you see this select safe mode and allow it to boot into it. Once it logs in and everything is loaded, restart the laptop and allow it to boot up as normal. Hopefully this might give us a better idea of whats going on.
