    Why did you leave?

I've been a member there since the day it opened, through good and bad times.

But I have to say, this year has been the very worse and with my membership finishing next week I won't be returning anytime soon.

What was probably at one time the best gym in the country has really went head long into a downward spiral.

    What happened?

Where you there during its hay day?.

Are you still there now?... Give me a shout - (I'm usually wearing an SBGnorthside hoodie with Judo - MMA - BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU writing down the sleeves) and we'll have a coffee before I finally bow out of this place.

Well we have a pretty decent gym in the barracks where I'm based, plus I train in SBGnorthside

But I feel kinda sad leaving TF.

I've so many brilliant memories of training there, great parties and 'get togethers'. It had some great competing Bodybuilders (I wasn't one of the greats - hard as I tried I was always about 2-3 weeks off with my diets).

It had an atmosphere without equal and at one time had a management team who actually knew about training and the needs of athletes.

There was a time when you'd finish your training and could hardly get out of the place without having the 'craic' with friends either entering the club or trying to go home like myself.

Its just sad to see a great thing like TF Malahide was on its knee's like it is now.

I trained there for a few years about 3 years ago. Only left because I had no way of getting there without a car (or two buses). It was a great gym then.

I remember years ago being at the NABBA's or RIBBF Nationals (can't remember which) and seeing some of the guys on stage. It really put it in perspective the effort they went through when I had seen three of them training week in week out in TF.

It was also the place where I saw a guy OH press the big 65kg db's for reps!

I trained in SBG Northside before as a once off when my normal gym was close, it's got everything you need though I'm not sure if it can be used just for the gym? It would be great if it could be because I could just hop over the train tracks and I'd be home!

Yep, I used to be a member of Total Fitness Malahide but jumped ship over a year ago and moved to Northwood. Bit of a pitty really because I live just off Blunden drive and it was literally just around the corner.

Your right about it's fall from grace, it used to be a top notch gym and when I left it had taken a serious dive. Absolutely stinking changing room, constantly cold showers, Jacuzzi and Sauna unusable, ware and tare on the machines and just the general grubbiness of the place made me leave. At on stage none of the rowing machines displays worked, it's a battery for Christ sake.

They were changing a fortune for the privilege too.

Not into weights mostly do Cardio stuff 2/3 times a week, think I remember seeing you around was wondering where I recognised you from ( pic in after hours ).

Don't know about guys from TF but the new gym in Ballymun sounds good, cheap too. I'll probably join it in September.

I'm usually there around 9.30 in the morning and it's not too bad body wise.

I renewed my membership last month in Northwood for €260. Can't go wrong in my books.:)
