UFC 85 - Main Card

I received my tickets for UFC 85 on Friday morning and with the Main Card recently announced (Hughes vs Alves, Bisping vs Leben, Evans vs Irvin) the excitement is starting to brew.
The tickets state that doors open at 4:45.
Does anyone know what time the Main Card usually begins at UFC events?

Disappointing that Liddell has had to withdraw but the UFC has stacked the card with some crackers.
What do yiz think about the newly announced bouts?
    Any predictions?

Well hughes is a good replacment alright . i cant really think of anybody else. But the card itself seems decent enough .

I was at the last one in London, the o2 arena is an amazing venue to see it,big screens all over the place so even if ur not too close to the cage youll still see everything.
The main card was on at 11pm at the last one,teh action is fairly continuous with only short breaks in betwen fights so the main card could be on slightly earlier if the fights are over quick enough.
A bit of advice if your getting the tube back to the city after it,run like youve never ran before after the event is over cos we queued for 1.5 hours trying to get back

    Cool. Cant wait now.
Wouldn't be a Hughes fan. Was great to see GSP demolish him.
Some of the other fights look exciting tho.
Leben is a livewire and should be a good test for Bisping at this weight.
Davis & Swick could be the bout of the night....

Think I'll probably hit the O2 at 7ish and make sure I get all the main card fights in. I think we're gonna take the clipper boat thing down to the O2.

Liddell getting injured was a blessing in disguise for this event. Card is looking much better now

hughes is a great replacement, hes a pure beast, he dumptrucks too :D
carlos newton got pure dumptrucked in the title fight a few years back, anybody here at tribal warfare few weeks ago :D:D:D:D:D

Hughes is a definite legend in the sport but I think he's past his best. His stand up is fairly limited.
I still think Hughes had gone to sleep against Newton. Not so sure that was one of his trademark slams. The belt must have been nice surprise to wake up to tho.
    Very lucky.....

theres no thinking about it buddy, read MADE IN AMERICA he says straight out he was asleep :D:D which makes it all the better, nah that wasnt a trademark but its been copyed(hmmhmm cough) ha, the frank trigg slam after turning out of a rnc and picking him up and running still lives in the memory very fondly, id nearly try to go now i know hughes is on, yeah i love GSP but Matt Hughes is my fave....

Ah, poor ol Carlos Newton. That was the start of the end....
Anyway, he had no business being welterweight champ wearing those stuffed white pants!!
Man, I'm so lookin forward to 85. Its my first live UFC event.
(Rampage always comes to mind when considering best slam)

Gotta love Alvez. He gets told he is next in line after Fitch and tells them he'd still like a fight if there is a good one for him!

not a chance does ANY slam(dumptruck) beat matt hughes against frank trigg 2, he was going purple in a RNC turned out of it, picked him up like he was picking up a little bitch, ran all the way across the octagon and bounched trigg into the floor, before smashing hands and elbows off triggs face(trigg said out loud "here is my arm" and hughes kept pounding) until he took his back and choked him....amazing stuff, oh by the way anybody who hasnt read Matt Hughes book really should, i know he is unliked by many after the TUF bible reading sessions, but religiousness was new to him at that stage and maybe he was trying to turn people like his bro turned him...anyway, read the damn book :D:D

Yeh, fair play to the boy. Great attitude.
    Didn't Fitch beat Alves?
Can any of these guys hang with GSP?

Lightweight is where the action lies eh?
    Now thats a stacked division....

I'd say this show will start earlier than usual, because they've got more fights on this show than any event they've done in 10 years

I think people think that Hughes is past it because the two beatings he took against GSP are fresh in their minds. But they were against GSP! I'm sure Alves will have a tough time but I hope he wins

So, prelim card could get under way at 5 or 5:30. Big undercard of 7 fights. Main fights will be starting at 7-8ish, whadya reckon?

Important fight for Hughes. Especially if he loses....
Long road back. He hinted during TUF that he only had a few
    big fights left in him.

Eight undercard fights. Then there's five on the main card

Theres no championship bouts so all the fights will be 3x 5 minute rounds with 10-15 mins interval betweeen them so max time for the main card is 8x15 mins and 7 intervals so yea 7.30/8ish would be about right for th main card.
Peronally id get there for doors opening cos thres a great atmosphere about the place.I even saw a few faces from the UKs cage rage and that ross poynton lad from TUF.Theres a great little bar there too you can sit back and watch the eye candy coming in and out, loads of sexy young ladies follwed closely by scary looking cauliflowered eared wrestlers with perpendicular noses.

Dont worry I plan to see all the fights.
Just thought the doors were open very early and it is my 1st live UFC so
was tryin' to guage how the event shapes up timewise from anyone who
    has been to one live.

Yep, I'd aim to get there as early as possible. (I know that's my plan!) I'm guessing with so many fights things might kick-off as early as 4.30/5pm. Very often the undercard throws up some of the best fights of the night and there's some interesting matchups here. Looking foward to see how Kampmann gets on after his long injury lay off. Marquart v Leites should be an excellent fight.

I see they've just renamed the event 'Bedlam'!!

gud stuff man, where about are ur seats? for ufc 72 i got seats for 150e each... thought i'd have to be close to cage for that price... i was so far back I couldn't even see the fighters when they hit the ground. I found myself turning round looking at the screen most time... I wouldnt go to a UFC fight again unless I was gonna splash out for the ringside seats. Dont get me wrong the atmosphere is AMAZING at it but I was there to see the fights not feel the atmosphere and I was disapointed...

How do u feel about the fight card? Im glad chuck isnt fighting rashad coz i think it would be a walk over...

I'd say Bisping vs Leban will be madness

    That was Belfast wasnt it?
I have to say, I've always thought that may be a problem with the live experience. My tickets were 100bills each so I may have a similar prob as you did.
I expect the atmosphere will rock but getting to see all the action may involve alot of neck revolving!

The original card, with Chuck would have been a one sided affair, I agree but it might have solved the visual problem as it would have probably stayed on the feet!

Leben vs Bisping is gonna be very interesting. The cripppler is very unpredictable.

    Still lookin forward to it....

I'm surprised to see Bisping in another fight so soon after beating Charles McCarthy...but should make for an interesting show

It is early but in fairness he hardly had to break a sweat against McCarthy. In fact, McCarthy retired after that fight...:D
