Arnold Schwarzenegger for President?

I know technically the US constitution would prevent Schwarzenegger from ever becoming President of the United States but there is nothing preventing the Constitution from being amended to remove that law.

He has been the Governor of America's most populous state California since 2003 and he seems to be a popular Governor so could the other 49 states see Arnold in the same way nearly half of the voting population of California do?

The office of President has had a few surprises to date i.e Bush to Clinton to Bush and possibly back to Clinton so who knows what the future holds for this fine office?

I think he has no chance to win as he wasn't born there. He can still be potantial traitor/spy or whatever in the eyes of many people.. If not, the rivalry could use it against him. Still no chance to win..

He's a RINO. Far more so than McCain, and McCain has problems of his own. He'd never get the Republican nomination, and he wouldn't get the Democratic one because he's a Republican.

I like him, and voted for him both times. But he'd only have a shot as an independent, I think.

I think people are obsessed with this topic. Sure the American electoral system could do with some reform, but so could other countries. It matters little that Arnie can be elected president - there are 100m Americans that can. Surely theres at least one of those thats better than Bush. :pac:

I also like him, for the reason above. Has there ever been a US president who was an independant?

Senator Orrin Hatch, Republican of Utah, quietly introduced what he hopes will become the twenty-eighth amendment:

"A person who is a citizen of the United States, who has been for 20 years a citizen of the United States, and who is otherwise eligible to the Office of President, is not ineligible to that Office by reason of not being a native born citizen of the United States.

The same rule that stops Schwartzenegger from becoming President also stopped Henry Kissinger(Kissinger was born in Fürth, Bavaria, Germany)

Well we all know how hard it is to get an amendment passed. The Senate is a huge stepping stone to the presidency and of they blocked flag disecration I'm sure they will block this.

I'm not sure I see the connection.
