Nifty Fifty question

So i bought a nifty fifty there a few weeks ago. However, being a total boob i threw out the instructions. It was only today when i tried to attach a filter that i realised something wasn't right. Do i need an adapter or someting to attach a filter to the lens? thanks

Nifty fifty if I remember correctly has 52mm thread.
What size is the filter?

What size is the filter? I think the Canon 50 1.8 takes a 52mm filter.

just realised that the guy in the shop gave me a 55mm instead of a 52mm..... ggggrrrrrrrr
