Lads and lassies, anyone have any recommendation of a good trvale guide? I'm going off to Boston for ten days in July and am undecided between Rough Guides or Lonely Planets or a host of others.

Is there any difference in them really?

I find the DK Eyewitness the best for Touristy things. It has pictures and diagrams of the main attractions. The maps are simple, straightforward and easy to read. Best of all it is all in colour.
They also do suggested walks for the city or area your visiting. There is the usual listings for Hotels etc but as I use Trip advisor don't tend to use this bit.

Also I find the rough guide and lonely planet guides very plain with not enough pictures.

Thanks...I ended up buying the DK Eyewitness "Top 10 of Boston".

I had previously seen that guide except that it was on New York and looked good plus it was a tenner cheaper than the cheapest Lonely Planet guide I could find in Waterstones!
