Theres so many out there, I dont know where to start. Looking to spend $200-$250 (im in the US) on a DV camera. I guess a widescreen model would be nice, but im not sure if thet are native widescreen of if its just a gimmick. If theres a good used one in that price bracket, I may well go for that too.

In general.....is the image quality better on the HD (Hard Disk) or DV cameras, again no idea what codec and compression rates the HD cameras use on average so its a toughie...

I've only used one harddrive cam before and found the mpeg compression really killed the crispness, I found it a bit muddy/fuzzy compared to the DV tape consumer cam it replaced.

Might be worth taking a look on http://www.camcorderinfo.com , seeing what's in your price range and letting the reviews fill you in.
