MGO - A Bit Crap Really?

    Hi guys,

I played my first few games of MGO today, and found the experience to be a bit crap. However, I wasn't dissappointed because I didn't think it would be any other way....

First up: none of my gripes are about the whole debacle with the server load/update/Konami id - I see these as teething problems in any large scale open beta test. Regettable but understandable.

I simply believe that the Metal Gear game mechanic is no good for straight-up fighting. MG has always been about stealth - avoiding fights, because you pretty much can't win in a straight up shoot-out.

I was hoping that the MGO experience would steer clear of simple deathmatch style play, but that seems to be about all it does - theres a capture the base mode, but I couldn't find enough players to start a match.

So I logged in, did the training, adjusted the camera speeds to 10 to try and speed up aiming, and still found the game to be geriatric. The character jogs around slowly, and auto-aim is useless (maye a bug? but pretty useless) Manual aiming is just very slow. A lot of times there were three of use circling each other at arms distance trying to shoot each other.

On the plus side, it looked nice and had some nice touchs like character customization, etc....

Anyway, I look forward to MGS4, where we get to use proper stealth gameplay, and avoid the gunfights that have always been a low point of the MGS series.

Anyone else think the same? Or was I wrong to uninstall it?

    Dave

Haven't played it but don't expect much from the online multiplayer in it tbh. Also, not expecting much from the GTAIV online game so we'll see what happens there.

Exactly - for the exact same reason - these games might sound good in theory, but unless they majorly overhaul the fighting in the game, the multiplayer will suck compared to other online FPS/shooters

i'd have to agree, although it is only beta, it's a load of pants. Still I eagerly await MGS4

i was half expecting it to be pants alright. like ravydavygravy said mgs is a game for sneaking and i was never really looking forward to the online side of the game. its all about the single player in MGS and GTA
