I need some advice, well help really.. On diet and exercise.

    I'm 27, 6'3 and about 16 1/2st...

Spent years working as a driver, got quite I’ll and was off work for 8 months... Put on a stack of weight as I was housebound, not allowed to do anything physical and fairly depressed. That was just under 2 yrs ago..

I've since changed my career and am now working 1/2 on the road and 1/2 office.

Anyways... I really really really need to get in shape, my cholesterol level is higher than it should be, I'm way overweight and I generally feel like crap..

    Diet..
I have breakfast near everyday of the week. I generally eat muesli or porridge. I usually eat muesli like kelkins etc.. Try to stay away from the likes of country store, it’s like eating brown sugar… I make my porridge with low fat milk and usually sprinkle a small bit of sugar on top (1/2 tsp)

Mid morning… If I’m hungry I’ll have a yogurt… (Probiotic one from Aldi with cereals and dried fruits)

Lunch… from here on in it goes wrong.
Most days I have a brown baguette with egg mayonnaise, Swiss cheese and lettuce.. Followed by a bar. I get it from a garage down the road, I always get the same… If I’m out on the road it varies as to what I eat.. Depends on what’s nearby.

Dinner… Could be anything.. Pasta or chips with meat(chicken(mostly processed), red meat) or Pizza or lasagna or more pasta. I generally fry instead of grill... Chips are always oven chips. I eat pasta more than anything tho, most of the time its filled pasta(tortellini etc) I deffo don’t eat enough veg. No where near enough..

    And that’s generally it…

From what I can tell I eat too much cheese and mayonnaise(I love cheese)… At home I eat the extra light mayonnaise but afaik the garage one is full fat..

    I don’t eat enough (any) fruit or veg… I don’t eat fish, I hate it…

I think my main problems are my lunch and dinner and any snacks in between… I’ve been trying to eat nuts and dried fruits in between meals if I’m hungry. I just buy the ready mixed packs u can get in the shops…

    Exercise..

I’ve an exercise bike and a bench press.. Bought them a few weeks ago and used them about 3 times. I can’t get the motivation to do any exercise.. I don’t enjoy it, prob because I’m so unfit… I get wrecked so quickly. I’ve no idea how much or what I should be doing.

When I get home from work the last thing I can think of doing is exercise.. I know I should do it but I never do… I just can't find the energy. I can't find the energy to do anything, I just hang about the house...

I really need a boot up the arse..

Can anyone help me.?. I really need to change my lifestyle BIG TIME… I’m up for anything.. Recommendations???

First off, read the stickies at the top of this forum. Plenty of excellent advice about diet, nutrition and exercise from professional fitness trainers and dedicated fitness freaks :)

You seem to rely a lot on buying food on the go. Instead of that, get up 15/20 minutes earlier and prepare your lunch and snacks.
I do this and prepare things like:
    carrot sticks with hummus
    hard boiled eggs
leafy salad with red onion, cucumber and
    tuna/ grilled chicken fillet
and more (as I said, see the stickies)
Any salad I have has little or no dressing.

I also eat fruit and nuts/dried fruit (measured out into small portions, if you're buying the ones in the garage, even if they're healthy, you still might be eating 3 or 4 times as many calories as you need, nuts contain many calories)

As far as exercise goes, it's great that you started doing it and got the equipment, but if you're trying to do one big session at the beginning of the week (assuming you're doing this) and then avoiding it for the rest of the week, try spacing things out in shorter sessions. Create a simple, doable plan where you exercise 3 or 4 times a week and gradually increase so that you don't put yourself off it. And then the sky's the limit.

And the most important thing is, read the stickies at the top of this forum, the advice there is better and more complete than what I've written.

    good luck.

    :)
