Got my ticket and can't wait.

If it's anything like the last 2 times they played this should be brilliant.

Heading along, don't expect it to be as good as the TBMC that time. That was magic.

make sure and get there early enough to see Electric Eel Shock, japanese rockers who are supporting. great fun live, often with their drummer starkers!

That was an excellent gig. Looking forward to seeing them as a punter this time instead of from side of stage. Been a fan for ages. Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!

    Ditto.

Anyone heard the new album? Is it up to much?

Only listened to it the once. Not as good as the older stuff but it could well be a grower.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,211 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Wooooo. They can still draw a decent enough crowd. Great gig, but the set list could have been better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,593 ✭✭✭Soundman

    Venue sucks.

    Sound was brutal.

A lot of the crowd were ignorant pricks.

    That is all.

Enjoyable gig but would agree with the setlist not being great. Delighted to hear Lunatic to Love though. The new album is not as good as previous but it does grow on you.

Arrived late so missed some of EES unfortunately.
Sound seems to be bad under the balcony, not as bad out on the floor.

    Agreed!

Gig was pretty good I thought. I only got there during Boil Weevil so not sure how much I missed? The guest singer did a really good job on Repeated.

Still didn't compare to the TBMC gig :)

allot of the crowed were big and total ****. I'm bruised on my arm about 2 square inches from some fat sweaty toss pot who insisted he had space to swing his arms right up at the front!

Did anyone get the impression that that girl really didnt want to marry that chap?

Boll Weevil and Deleter you mean?

Couldn't hear what she was singing to be honest. I missed so much of the gig sue to assholes constantly barging through. Even though we were at the back! I really couldn't enjoy myself. Music Centre gig I had the lads in stitches bouncing away behind the monitor board. I was really looking forward to the gig in Tripod but for me it was a waste of money. I heard very little and didn't sing along to anything as I could barely hear it and was ready to glass people. I have no idea how I didn't.

    :(

I didnt think it was anywhere near as good as the last two gigs but it was still fun. I was annoyed that Electric Eel Shock were on so early though. Tickets said show 8:30 and they were on when we arrived at 8:05 and mostly finished by 8:30.

Didn't play it!!!!! But thought was an excellent gig - was right up the front, didn't see anything wrong with the sound and had a brill nite. Fair play to the guys - they still have it in em :D

Anyone count the amount of times he suggested buying T-shirts? :D

Arrived a tad late myself. So just kinda floated down the back. Seemed to be a lot of "outta my way, I'm more important than you" idiots going by. But sure, you get them at every gig.

I guess I was really lucky that I didn't encounter any of that hassle - I was up by the front right of the stage - where it was calm until 'Back Porch' song.. then things livened up big style and was great craic! No annoying overbearing people - just generally happy people enjoying the gig! Didn't come close to the Vicar St. show - but I think that's cos of line-up for me. Was hoping for Munky River too, awh. Thought they played a blinder with great enthusiasm - the t-shirts thing was gas - last leg of the European tour - can't blame em! Get rid of merchandise!!

I enjoyed the gig but there were an awful lot of assholes there. The constant pushing, shoving and guys flinging their arms around their places was both distracting and annoying. That said the President's still played a great show and I'll definetly be going to see them again.

I did'nt get to Tripod till just befor half eight and Electric Eel Shock were finishing up. The tickets did say that they show began at 8:30. I was quite disappointed though seeing them again last night made up for it.

Sums it up nicely. Sound was annoying me all night, I couldn't place exactly what was wrong with it (maybe soundman can help?) but... it just seemed to lack any balls. I just wanted them to krank it up, which is normally the opposite for me at a lot of gigs. PUSA seem to normally have quite a big sound for what they are, but, meh, it did seem like it was just three blokes on stage.
Alot of people were just barging through without any effort to go around etc, I've noticed this alot more at recent gigs, so um, did I miss the memo or something... I never remember people being such dicks.

Enjoyed the gig, did think the sound was a bit off but was up at the front so it probably didn't sound as bad as being back further.

Agree about the crowd though some were a bit ignorant. Got squashed against the barrier a few times as well as a crowndsurfer being dropped on me by the security....I've been to rougher gigs but didn't really to be too bruised lol.

I have to say that I am so glad that I wasn't the only person, other than my girlfriend, who experienced problems that night.

For me, the main issues with the sound were that:

    1) It was too quiet. I don't like ear bleeding levels, I just want to be able to hear the band over drunken fools who think they know the lyrics.

    2) The low end was far too sloppy. There was no tightness or punch to it at all. The room itself didn't help either, adding over a second of reverb to everything.

    3) It also lacked some clarity, though that issue could just have been from my perspective under the balcony. They could do with a few speakers back there to clean the sound up.

Was the balcony open or did they just over sell the main floor? It seemed too full to me which I think was one of the deciding problems with the assholes I mentioned previously.

I think the Balcony was open but was for people on the guestlist only?

meh i enjoyed it, would have liked to hear munkey river and jennifers jacket beside they went down a storm at vicar street. didnt have too much hassle with the crowd as we were on the main floor with our backs to the sound desk, but ill be there for the next one anyway :)

Next one is Vicar St in March next year, apparently.

That would be fúcking sweet. Where did you hear this?

I checked ticketmaster, and they have a date booked in Germany in March, so there's a good chance that what you heard is true.

As well as Denmark and Netherlands it seems, so here hoping they do return next year.

Really enjoyed the gig at the Tripod this year, so it's hard to turn down another PUSA gig :)

Do you like them cause you think they are good or because you liked them when you were a kid? Do they play new material? Do they use more strings than they used to? i.e. 6 and 4 instead of 4 and 2

I'd say they don't have much money so merch sales are important to a band is that position.

I wont bother with this because of the amount of knobs at the last gig.
    Last album wasnt great either.
