Drewstown Make A Mess

Why are Drewstown trying to hold a comp on the same day as UL which is a full Fita and the Last opportunity to qualify for the senior Euronations squad. This date has been on the web site since last year. This is not allowed. Drewstown are making a mess of things and not for the first time that someone from Drewstown has done this. We should support UL.

i should clarify some things here, the shoot at drewstown is a social event, there will be a bbq this isnt meant to be a competition but rather a chance for some archers who dont take archery as seriously as others to go out and enjoy themselfs.we understand that there is a shoot on in ul and realise that the top archers will not attend the drewstown event however there is beginners in every club and just because there is a top level shoot on dosnt mean there cant be a "Fun" shoot for thoses who donot wish to compete.

thoses who say otherwise i would view as very selfish.in that just because they may be able to achieve the top scores (or distances For that matter) DOESNT MEAN no one else can compete on that day

The notice you put on the web does not say its a fun shoot. Quot "Drewstown Archery Club Hosts its First SHOOT of the season". Iv been to UL in the past with my son and he's a begginer and had fun. I dont know you but you dont seem to know a lot about Fita shoots in Ireland or UL club as they are both fun.

yes i agree that you can have fun, however i dont see how drewstown have made a mess by hosting a club shoot(not comp as you so said).

    This is not allowed.

no where does it say that 2 comp/shoot cant be held in one day,and i presonally think to say that is narrow minded and detrementail to archery in ireland

as i have said before the Drewstown CLUB shoot offers an alternative to local archers to have a bit of fun and enjoy a mixed course, and to enjoy a social event/shoot/bbq.

I attended the calendar meeting on behalf on my club and it was agreed at the meeting. But you wouldn't know that as there was no one from you club there.

so at this meeting you all specifically agrteed that no other club in Ireland could hold a CLUB SHOOT if there was a competition on the same daY

bearing inm ind that a CLUB SHOOT and competition are 2 different things and also knowing that no one club in ireland could possible hope to facilitat any kind of shoot capable of allowing all the archers to compete?????again why limit the amount of people that can shoot in one day??

i.e lets say there 500 archers in ireland(there are way way more)
there is NOOOOOOOOO way UL(or any club)could hold a shoot for that many people.so lets say ul can hold 400 archers what do the other 100 do???wouldnt it be nice if they could attend a fun(fun ment in the context of realitevly uncompetitive ass all archery is fun:)) shoot???

This isn't the first time shoots have clashed, and won't be the last. But its pretty simple - those who want to shoot in Drewstown shoot in Drewstown, and those who want (need!) to shoot in UL shoot in UL. Its not really a major problem.

We hosted the Irish Barebow champs this year and it was on the calender, on the website, and mailed to all clubs. It then emerged that the IAAA needed a qualifier so it was sceduled for the same day as our shoot. We lost some archers to it but most still shot with us. Those who wanted to shoot the qualifier did, and those who wanted to shoot the BB world champs came to Galway.

Simple, easy, everyone has a choice

whats the big upset, if you wish to take part in the UL shoot take part.
if you wish to take part in the drewstown shoot same thing.
there is no clash hear, there is however choice which is a good thing.
i could understand if this were two national shoots or or some such as that could cause a clash but hear no problem. pick one and enjoy.

    Oh, God, please, no.

I stopped being involved with IAAA things long ago and stuck to intervarsity shooting because it's just more fun and laid back.

Lets try and keep this forum that way. Remember your roots, and how this forum began.

If this forum becomes another outlet for the savage backbiting and general dickheadedness that seems to permeate the IAAA, I'm out.
