I have done before, and if your doing online checkin then they ain't going to notice anyway, the security certanly won't care.

In general I would agree however there are exceptions - Most notably Stansted airport where a strict one bag rule is enforced. If you show up with 2 bags you will be told to go back and check one in. This rule may apply solely to Stansted but more than likely it's in place for other UK airports as well.

i've seen guys bring both through as carry-on through gatwick, stansted, being they're major hub seems to be the worst. i just came back from fuerteventura yesterday with ryanair and they were letting people bring both but were still insistent on the weight limit for checked luggage.

    Thanks for info:
is it possible to check-in on line for return flights, for example from eindhoven?

just get yourself to an internet cafe the day before you return and check-in online there, unless you're only going for 1 day and 1 night in which case you could check-in for both flights before you leave as the online check-in window opens 2 days before the flight.

I thought they had upped it to 4 days before for the checkin a couple of months back but seems that it now say 2 days again. :(

It doesn't matter if you do an online checkin as the checkin staff don't look over the desk to see what bags you are actuallt carrying.

Just to wrap thia up then:
I have my boarding pass printed off, my 10kg bag as hand luggage plus the laptop so I just go straight to security and down to boarding gate.
=> dont need to be there 2hrs ahead,
no need to go near the check in desk at all
just need to allow for security line.
    Is this it?
    Thanks

    .
Online Check-In is available from 5 days up to 4 hours before the scheduled flight departure time.
