Anyone got the PS3 hooked up to this Amp?

    I have the Yamaha RX-V661, I am planning to get PS3 next week, apply the latest firmware, and hook it up using the HDMI output. My 5 year old HD ready plasma doesn't have HDMI but has component inputs x3, with a capability to 1080i.

    a) I presume I can output Audio -> HDMI and Video -> component at same time without any issues.

    b) Anyone who is using this amp with the PS3 let me know how it sounds.

    Would hooking the PS3 up to the amp via optical cable not be simpler?

    I want the HD sound; DTS-HD Master audio etc, for that I'd need the HDMI, its decoded using Firmware 2.30 in the PS3. The amp has HDMI inputs for this purpose.

    Sorry but the RX-V661 doesn't support HD Audio. While it has HDMI input this is just for convenience.

    If it supports mulit-channel PCM it will be able to playback DTS-MA as it is decoded internally by PS3 and then based as PCM audio over HDMI to amp.

    Yeah it's quite a popular amp for anyone who gets a Blu-Ray player with internal decoder, just wanted to know if anyone has it hooked it up yet, and played a Dolby Tru or PCM 7.1 soundtrack through it.
