    Folks
Looking for a good restaurant in Galway. I'm kinda partial to Tex Mex or a good steak (I've been to Cactus Jacks a few times so I'd like to try someplace different). Any suggestions??? Anybody been to Scotty's on the headford rd?

Open till 10 or 11 afaik. They're usually busy enough, might be no harm.

The best steak i ever had in Galway has to be the cajun spiced steak in McSwiggans. With some garlic cheese potatoes on the side.

God I'm starving just thinking abouti!!!!

Personally I thought Scotty's was awful, Burger which sounded great on the menu was bland , greasy and tiny. Not great qualities for a restuarant that prides itself on great food. Also I order a Milkshake (€4.50!) which looked like it was poured straight from a carton. Now some people bad mouth Eddie Rockets but I have to say for a Milk shake & Burger (especially with their 2 for 1 deals) they are tops compared to Scotty's. I've also tried Mustard and while better than Scotty's by a long shot it still was a bit lacking.
I believe the best steak I've had in Ireland was in The Pullman restuarant in the Glenlo Abbey Hotel here in Galway.

thanks for that..don't know about Eddie Rocketts. There's a gang of us going out for a friends birthday so we're looking for a nice sit down meal with a bit of choice for all. The Pullmans sounds good though.

Have a gander at Tara on Dominic St.

The whole murder mystery thing they sometimes do during the meal might not be everyone's cup of tea (although watching the staff put on silly accents and actually socialise with you can be very enjoyable), but the food was amazing, including the best steak I've had in a long long time.

I work there, the food is indeed awesome, if a little pricey.

The Murder Mystery is only on Saturdays, while they're great fun I'd say you're better off booking a table during the week. Weekdays are usually very quiet, but if you book they bring in live trad musicians, which are far better than the cd you get otherwise ;)

Oh and if you're there on a weeknight there's a very high chance you're being served by me, so say hi! I'd be the only young guy there, wear all black.
