Surprised nobody mentioned anything about Ryan Rhodes performance Friday night.

As a person who always thought he was just a poor man's Naz, I was amazed at his performance.

He was in excellent condition, very accurate and most of all had a nice compact defence combined with economy of movement which was so different to the excessively energetic style often employed by Ingle fighters.

While his opponent (Woolcombe) was nothing special he was still British champion and was also in great condition and has some heart, I found myself really warming to Rhodes' display.

it was a great fight to watch.

i never liked him as a young fella, mainly because of all that 'spice boy' rubbish and all the excessive show boating he used to do, but i really enjoyed his fight to regain the british title. He kept his hands up, showed good skills, showed class that i didn't think he had by being respectful to his opponent in the fight, immediately after the ko when given the belt, and in his interview.

Maybe he didn't appreciate how good he had it 1st time around and realises it now?

    Agreed.

I really enjoyed it an hope him the best. I thought he was going places when he burst onto the scene 11 years ago. It's hard to believe it was that long ago! But I think he is a massive under achiever (Losing to Gary Lockett??). I wish him the best, don't know how far he can go at this stage though.

I didn't see it but the word going round after the fight was that Rhodes was robbed against the very average Lockett and actually won the fight by about 8 rounds to 4 . That said I can't say for myself as I didn't see it but I wouldn't be surprised at all as I'd consider Rhodes a much better fighter .
