    Hi Folks,

Just started commuting more and the taste of tea from a plastic travel mug is driving me nuts - its just disgusting.
Does anyone know if theres anywhere in Dublin that you can buy ceramic travel mugs, or must I go the internet route (thereby meaning I have to drink I have to drink the tea through the plastic until it arrives).

    Thanks,
    c

Haven't used any ceramic travel mugs, but like yourself I can't stand
the plastic or plastic lined travel mugs. See if you can get yourself a metal/
stainless steel lined mug, they are much better than the plastic lined mugs.

The stainless steel interior mugs are the only mugs worth getting -the plastic
interior models will degrade and split eventually, especially if you use a dishwasher.

I can't help with an Irish supplier as I tend to pick mine up when in the USA
as they're much cheaper over there.

See if you can get your hands on one of the Thermos Nissan models

I picked up Starbuck's stainless steel mug (think you recommended it Gran Hermano). Couldn't be happier with it and will be buying an additional one soon.

    Thanks guys!
I think the steel taste will still bother me though (I have flasks in stainless steel that i use for soup etc, or should I say I dont use it because they still change the taste)
So, any ideas on the ceramic ones would be greatly appreciated... :)

how long to travel mugs keep drinks hot for? I take it it's just half an hour or so maybe?

I've driven from Dublin to Galway and still had warm coffee in my travel mug
when I arrived. The cheaper plastic interior travel mugs are not much use
    - poor insulation and they taint the beverage.

The Starbucks stainless steel (interior and exterior) mug or one of the
Thermos brand will easily keep drinks warm for 2-3 hours.

Mr M, I can safely say the Starbucks travel mug I bought in London some
8 years back is probably the one good thing I have bought from them! :)

The S/S cup I have keeps coffee hot for a couple of hours. There's no way you should taste anything from a good s/s mug other than it's contents.

Thanks guys - that's great. i didn't think it would be that long, might pick one up so. The starbucks one seems to get some kudos so i'll probably go with that.

(sorry for trashing the thread op! :o)

I Don't know if you are still looking for a ceramic travel mug, I was looking for one for ages, got people to look in the USA and I couldnt get one anywhere but they have them in Urban Outfitters in Temple Bar or Dundrum shopping centre in Dublin for €25 and they are great!

This is the one they have in Urban Outfitters for €25

    http://www.firebox.ie/product/2120/I-Am-Not-A-Paper-Cup

Cheper on this web site but would want to be ordering a few items to account for the added postage

Have not purchased myself yet. Put " I am not a paper cup" into amazon.com for reviews - generally favourable but staining will be a problem.

Interested in views of anyone that has purchased and used for a while?

I've got this starbucks mug also.. I picked mine up in Vancity alos... five finger discount, I have a policy I stand by, if I'm forced to pay for a coffee( or a chai, as I usually will only drink their chai) I must get something back from them for free...

Hi Guys, you have to take a look at this product if you drink Tea or coffee in the car. The contigo ss mugs is brill, it just does not leak at all, even up-side-down. They have them in Great Outdoors, or contigo.ie

I also got one in Starbucks a few years ago - it has no handle so is compact and it also won't spill if it is knocked over. Some of the travel mugs available are huge -this is perfect for me!

Anywhere in Dublin City Centre sell this/these? And how much are they? Since on amazon they are around a tenner, i guess in dublin prob something stupid like €15. I dont want one with a handle, just dont like that.

    Cheers guys!

    Hi.
As per this thread, I got one of these in Avoca Rathcoole, so you might get one in Avoca Suffolk Street. IIRC, it was €16.

I've seen ceramic travel mugs in New Look (was trailing around after the wifely unit), Dunnes and Debenhams.

I usually use a stainless steel Bodum travel mug bought in the local Shaw's store.
