I can't help you because I'm in the same predicament. My best friend in college just got engaged after 10 years of going out with her fella.

We only got engaged 2 months ago and we were given a couple of restaurant vouchers including Mint in Ranelagh. Depending on where you are, you could get a gift voucher for a really nice restaurant. We also got a Habitat voucher which to me is really worthwhile.

Don't go for something household unless they have just moved into their own place and they are short on things!

You lucky thing, we got a lot of glasses, a few picture frames and something called "The Eternal Candle" which is not as exciting as it sounds. It's all sitting in boxes out in the Mammy's because we're still renting a small apartment.

I reckon I'll get them a bottle of bubbly with a restaurant voucher tied around the neck of it.

    Thanks for the idea.

When my friends got engaged, I bought a glass photo frame in a wooden base. Then I looked through my photos and found a lovely one of the two of them in black and white on holiday that year, and I trimmed it down to fit the frame. So it was a simple yet kinda homemade present and they loved it :p

Though my frame was pretty standard silver one! Pic was from years ago and i thought it was pretty personal to them. Now wether they liked it or not i don't know. Haven't seen them since the party :p
